F1 » Ecclestone tips Rosberg for title

Agree that Nico is probably a more complete racer, has better race craft etc but on the other hand, Hamilton is just quicker on raw pace and that will always be an advantage. Actually if the Merc was the quickest car this would probably be the most interesting battle between team mates, hard to tell who'd come out on top. In Hamilton's favour, he was new in the team last year and matched Nico. So with a full year under his belt he might be able to use that experience to his favour and have the upper hand. However, I've read that the brakes are very different this year and much less sharp and effective, that would be a huge setback for him as his driving style relies heavily on sharp and aggressive braking. Kimi vs Alonso will also be very interesting, so I'm kinda hoping the Merc and the Ferrari will both be at or near the top... As for RBR, I could definitely live with a season without Vettel's finger.

F1 » Renault admits to power unit errors

Yeah I think a lot of people are jumping the gun here, to say it's the biggest fall-from-Grace in the history of F1 certainly seems way over the top considering we're still well over a month from the first race. There's definitely time to get their act sorted, but whether they can make up for the testing time they've lost is a whole other story. The other teams will have plenty of data to work on between this test and the next, RBR and the other Renault teams, not so much. One thing is clear though, the people who were saying that Lotus missing the first test was a complete disaster have now been proven wrong! :)

F1 » New Marussia finally appears

Disregarding the obvious fact that the nose looks awful, I think this is actually a tidy looking car. The back end in particular looks nice and slim. Certainly much more so than the bulky Caterham, and even the Sauber is a bit chunky. Waaay too early to say anything of course, but it might not be completely unthinkable that they'll be able to take a step forward this season...

F1 » Jerez F1 test times – day one: 28 January

Taipan, of course an F1 car being faster than GP2 would not be something to praise, the point is that it would be absolutely necessary. The top class needs to be the fastest one, it just wouldn't make sense otherwise. If they really would be slower than GP2 that would be hugely embarrassing for the FIA. On the other hand though, I suppose it's only logical that you have to change the formula to keep speeds down every now and then, as the teams push the limits ever more. It's happened many times, and for safety reasons speeds do need to be managed. Also I think JJ has a good point, the most important thing is that the regs make for good and close racing! In that sense they've developed quite well, because while it's easy to be nostalgic about the past the truth is the field has never been closer.

F1 » Jerez F1 test times – day one: 28 January

Jesus you people are sensitive! It's the first day of testing with completely undeveloped cars due to huge regulation changes, do you really expect them to be 10 seconds slower come race day in Melbourne? Really? Do you expect Sauber to remain 15 seconds slower than Ferrari too? I'll eat my hat of they're still slower than GP2 in the actual races. Come on, testing times normally mean next to nothing, especially on the very first day of testing in a new season... however this time I'd say it's absolutely impossible to draw any form of conclusion given the massive reg changes. You know all this, so calm down!
