F1 » Renault slams Red Bull, accuses it of ‘lies’

richard:
goldenoldie: Newey is mistaken in stating that RBR not being competetive is only due the Renault PU.
and what makes you so sure of that? newey has not designed any duds so far, and i would not expect him to do so now. if you have a down on power PU, you cannot exploit the best features of a car designed to have more power. i would not expect my merc to be as fast with only 5 cylinders out of 6 working. ( and yes, i have the misfortune to own a merc, which is in the garage nearly as much as it is on the road!)
Richard, I think Newey is a design genius but he has had a few flops, the McLaren MP4-18 springs to mind. To say he's not designed any duds isn't strictly true. No one is perfect.

F1 » Renault slams Red Bull, accuses it of ‘lies’

MrJones85:
richard: contd. they now have only rb as a customer, and they were contracted until end of 2015. they were talking about selling their engine plant last year, but rb actually persuaded them not to. and currently there is no way that renault will buy any team, it would be doomed to total failure. the most likely scenario is that rb will either purchase cosworth (as merc did with ilmor) or else they will commission a new engine themselves. of course, they could take a chance and opt for the honda unit, which , in my opinion, is actually not a bad unit.
But, what about all this talk of RB pulling out of F1? Does these rumors have any merit? I would love Audi to purchase that team. A real car manufacturer not a drinks company.
Why would Audi join F1 when they can see the difficulties Honda are having and the engine freeze means new manufacturers cannot catch up. They'd be mad to sink 400 million into a black hole.

F1 » Renault slams Red Bull, accuses it of ‘lies’

LoveF1: To be completely fair to Red Bull, they've been talking about these underpowered Renault engines for about 2 to 3 years now.....not just in the last few weeks. They must have had enough with the private discussions and decided to bring it into the public domain to force Renault's hand - though that strategy may be backfiring. I'm not an engineer, but I can't work out why Renault cannot just re-design and increase the engine horsepower as Red Bull wants it?
They've already using most of their tokens in pre-season tweaks and due to the engine freeze I don't believe they can just go ahead and redesign it. Sunny will be able to clarify the position better than I can.

F1 » Renault slams Red Bull, accuses it of ‘lies’

goldenoldie:
Taz: A few of us were saying after Melbourne the relationship was damaged beyond repair. I'd say that confirms it. What are Red Bulls options though or do they know something about another manufacturer coming into the sport that we don't. Can't see Merc or Ferrari wanting to help them.
Hey Taz, Is it really up to the point that's beyond repair? If 2 partners are accusing eachother, there are 2 to blame. The interaction between todays PU and the rest of the car is a fact. If they can work out their differences, the collaboration could be repaired.
@oldie I'm not a betting man but I struggle to see how it can be repaired, Renault are evaluating which team to buy to come back as a manufacturer.

F1 » Williams urges more fan research to develop F1

danyboy: Surly Claire must realize that the fans that are moaning are the same ones who were singing the praises of the 4XWDC while putting up with fuel and tyre management , but now there is a legit No 1 who is making F1 credible by racing a proper and talented teammate the same people are shouting boring.
Oh Ron, stop trolling. If your going to contribute at least try and post a sentence not blatantly loaded to provoke argument.
