F1 » F1: Palmer confirmed as Lotus third driver

danyboy: This is great news. I enjoyed watching him race last season, he is a quick driver who also has control to go with his speed hopefully PDVSA will get p off with the Venezuelan crash kid and stop their Sponsor leaving the way open for Palmer senior to spend some of his money.
Problem is if they do go Lotus has a $35 million funding shortfall in their budget, he wouldn't be there otherwise.

F1 » F1: Palmer confirmed as Lotus third driver

theeagle: @Taz Its a bit of a false statement to say the Lotus is not a competitive car. Robert Kubica proved it can win races (if not the World Championship) before his dreadful rally crash. Jonathan Palmer is a shrewd operator and knows his son Jolyon doesnt have what it takes to let him blow $14m (or whatever it costs) to buy a seat.
Where exactly did I say the Lotus was a bad car? The 2014 car was a dog but that was partly the engine. If you look at the 14 million figure that's what Maxie's daddy was rumoured to be paying for little Maxie's drive. I thought you'd join the dots but apparently not.

F1 » Saving Marussia ‘still certainly possible’ – Lowdon

Googolplex: Sunny, If that other team was also a major creditor, then given the 40 mill funding swinging on it, your theory has some attraction.
I'm guessing we're talking about Ferrari. They could ingest that debt as an investment if taking over the team, otherwise it's going to need someone with deep pockets who doesn't expect to see the money back. Having a B team has served Red bull pretty well.
