MotoGP » Valentino Rossi signals desire to stay in MotoGP

@ RawDawg A press release from HRC was reported on here & GPone regarding 2012 machinery. In it they said that due to the time & resource constraints it would be impractical to produce seperate works & customer spec machines so they had taken the decision to initially only produce one specification machine that all teams would use but then after that updated parts would aside from Repsol who would get them immediately be desemenated to other teams in line with their results so far. Will flick back through both here & GPone and link you the article when I find it.

@ RawDawg Actually Honda did give Gresini a full factory bike for Simoncelli. If you saw on here when Crash reported HRC statement for 2012 they signalled a change in who would get factory spec machinery for this year. HRC have said that for the first couple of races ALL the Honda bikes would be identical spec and from then on with the exception of Repsol other teams would be given updates based upon their performance & results when the parts became available. Essentially if Bradl for example on the LCR flies the LCR gets updates in line with Repsol, If he flounders updates are unlikely. The only exception to this was for Simoncelli who being employed direct by HRC and not by Gresini was guaranteed equal machinery to Repsol

If we look at the differences between the circumstances & how Yamaha & Ducati reacted when Rossi requested changes I believe we can see why Rossi did not make the GP11 a better bike. Rossi joined Yamaha fully fit& Yamaha immediately made changes that they had previously refused to when previous riders had requested. They had almost unlimited testing closed season to test & develop the bike & it came straight out at the start of the season a race winner. Rossi joined Ducati still injured & indeed 2 days after sitting on the bike the first time was undergoing surgery. Ducati said at the time thet the bike was "already developed" so just needed fine tuning for Rossi to get the best out of it. Almost immediately Rossi was asking for major changes to the bike but was knocked back and continually allowed not much more than minor changes. It took almost the whole season before Ducati relented and even then they did not give anyone a real chassis as requested instead only an alloy version of t

F1 » Berger: I wouldn't have re-signed Raikkonen

Sad fact about F1 today i sits not always about future talent its more about who can draw the sponsorship money to keep the team going. As a former world champ Raikkonen has a name that can persuede sponsors to part with large amlounts of money so as much as we would like it to be untrue Renault dont care as much about his possible future results as his current earning power anything else is a bonus
