if you see the effort he puts in his training you wouldn't doubt he might have a chance at a podium next yr. He has both packages that every athlete needs to have to be successful, mentally and physically strong. This kid ain't scared motogp and he definitely wont slack off.

Go Ben! All in all 6 championships and only 25. Amazing!

I do agree even as an american that Brands Hatch is a better looking track than Donny. The only setback last yr for BH was the Craig Jones incident. RIP. I really thought Johnny Rea was only gonna sign for a yr with TK and hopefully step up to GP's. Dudes really fast but needs to be more patient out there... Bring on 2010!

Good points being made here folks, but u guys forgot to mention one thing. Traction Control. Suzuki and Honda are the only factories not using Magnetti Marelli TC electrncs, therefore I think there a step back from the others. On superbikeplanetdotcom they said that honda not only tested ohlins suspensions but also may have tested MM TC system after buying a package off of them. Suzuki should follow...

I second that. Dani is a tough little son of a gun for his height. The bussines that he's in is not easy but he keeps on going trying hard every time. I think of all the factory riders he's the one that's dieing for a championship. Already going on his fifth yr and nada. The slogan comes to mind, 80% rider 20% bike. I wonder if Dani has fallen victim to the 20%. Consistency is the name of the game though.

@micklevanon Exellent post. If this was a true forum I would recommend what u wrote as a sticky.. I also like to add that when Ben raced SuperStock in AMA I think in 2007 he completely smoked everybody in that class. I mean Ben was like 20 seconds ahead with no one in site. He would of had a perfect season in that class but he wrapped up that championship with 2 races to go. So he decided he wasn't gonna race the last round. To add more to that, he also won the AMA SBK championship that yr too. And then you wonder why us americans speak highly of him, its because we have been witnesses of what he's capable of. Just like my dad used to tell me, "tell me who are your friends and I'll tell you who you are". Ben Spies records can not be changed so therefore we based our assumptions on that.

I find it highly impossible to like this sport if u haven't ridden a bike. Maybe that's the reason USA hasn't really been a fan of this sport. I've been to europe and bikes are a way of life out there, that and also cuz the roads are narrow. Lol I've been having a motorbike since I was 10 yrs old and will always have one. So with Rossi or no Rossi, I'm still gonna be a fan of the sport.

Ben Spies is like a computer processing all sorts of data while he rides. Un-fkn-believeable! Not only does he have the speed but the brains for this sport. The only other rider that talks like that is none other than our man Rossi. Ben Spies as an athlete can be compared to the Jordans, Kobe Bryants, Armstrongs and others I can't remember. They make the sport look easy but its not. I recall seeing all those races between him and Mladin but I can't recall him having a lot of DNF's, so that might be the case of why he prefers to test worn tires. So in a race he knws exactly what to do when the bike is behaving weird.

Seems to me like Rossi is backing out really quick on what he said. Wonder why? Maybe its because of the amount of talent there is right now and with Ben aka cowboy doing so well in testing he's feeling a little bit left out with no leverage. A couple yrs ago only a handful riders could pressure him and if they did, it was for a couple races not the whole season. But things are turning now and the fans are realizing that this guy can be defeated. But Rossi doesn't wanna let go.. I have all respect for Rossi but if he adapted his style from 125, 250, 500, 990 and now 800cc then this JL/Yamaha thing will be a walk in a park for him. Remember what JB said "the cream of the crops always shine".

Ppl ppl calm down please and don't say that Spies is an alien cuz we all knw that a bunch of ppl were doubting him and wishing for his demise in motogp. Dean Adams (superbikeplanetdotcom) already said that there's 4 aliens and 1 cowboy. Clearly Mr Adams knew that Spies wasn't brought up in the GP paddock but was optimistic that he will adapt fast. So from now on is 4 Aliens and a Cowboy. It wouldn't be weird to me if u see maybe an old western flick being played in the Texas 3 team or the whole team playing Kid Rocks song "Cowboy" loud so everybody can hear.

Rossi is not gonna have it easy if JL leaves anyways cuz there is this someone called Mary Spies, mother and manager of BS. And if you don't knw about ther then investigate. Word around the streets is that Mary Spies is NOT one soft cookie and will undoubtley ask for the same machinery that rossi has if they both team up. Spies takes is job seriously as we all knw, so why the hell will he not also demand same machinery? Wake up PPL..

@rawdawg Well put rawdawg. Yamaha doesn't have two steering wheels to steer. If they make a part and Rossi likes it that doesn't mean that automatically JL is gonna like too. If both your riders are really fast and have good feedback skills then yamaha will eventually build an overall good bike with both pros and cons. Remember what they say, 'two heads are better than one'. You also gotta remember that ducati has only 1 fast rider in Stoner and with Nicky saying that the transition from Japanese equipment to Italian was astronomical, you beg to wonder if Rossi is up for that challenge. Ultimately the pressure is on Rossi not yamaha. And just like rawdawg said, JL is probably laughing at this..
