F1 » What we learned at the Canadian Grand Prix

rob01: the bad tires nico used were issued to the driver by FIA and NOT the team. they are the extra set for Q3 and there is nothing a team can do about that. to stir that pot would be on the level of the British media.
Rob, From what you say it sounds that Rob Smedely (Williams) who is as British as they come was also (like me) stirring the plot,
Nico the speaker of 7 languages had to ask.. how do you know those are bad tires? And yes Smedley has a grading system for the tires and didn't remember of the issued Q3 set he was grading. Stiring Merc's pot is something most feel is the best way to attack Unless you have a Merc under the hood. Smedley should have graded his comment first.

F1 » Hamilton 'always felt in control' of 'historic' victory

MrJones85: Honestly, did anybody think Rosberg was going to catch and overtake Hamilton at anytime during that race?
probably not due to the team orders. but why do some not realise that for nico to stay exactly the same distance behind lulu, it showed that he had exactly the same pace. but when he started to close, he was told to save fuel. now, why on earth would he be told to in effect slow down, if it was not to ensure that lulu stayed in front. merc are making a mockery of f1.
If Vettel closes the gap to Lewis you can be assured Ferrari will do the same.

F1 » Rosberg laments ‘rubbish end to qualifying’

107SS2009: Nico had no chose but to run with a “bad” set of tyres (out of 6 set given to each driver) in final qualifying that ultimately cost him a shot at pole. Rob Smedley (Williams) “I was baffled by the fact that Nico had run with such tyres in Q3- rather than getting rid of them earlier in the event. Mercedes know of Nico’s situation in advance, Nico over the radio after the run “how do you know which set is bad and which set is good?”. Totonator after qualifying “ it is one of the things we do, we try to understand the difference between batches (tyres)”.
bad set were the extra set of option tyres that are allocated to Rosberg by the FIA rather than a set that are singled out by the team. Should this extra set of tyres, given to all drivers and only for use in Q3, not be as good as other sets then, like with Rosberg in Canada, it is just bad luck and there is nothing the team can do.
