F1 » Alonso talks crash, contradicts many McLaren claims

107SS2009:
buzzinhornet:
107SS2009: Nothing to do with this thread and totally off topic. Reading the latest news I hope everything is OK for Rob and his family, I might be mistaken but I believe Oklahoma is his place.
We talking Rob smedley? Gotta link bud .
No, was talking Rob/roBO 1 Crash Net poster.
Thanks for thinking about me and mine. we are ok. Tornadoes are a common occurrence in this part of the country. Prayers go out to the injured and the one who died.

F1 » Under pressure Red Bull says ‘strength is development rate’

107SS2009: Ricciardo’s engine and Kvyt’s gearbox failures responsibilities lays squarely with RBR, on the first one Renault strongly advised RBR against using that development engine in Melbourne because it was not yet fully tested, (Renault was following in the same pat FERRARI did in opting to using their “EVO 1” engine for reliability reasons), on the second, contrary to what RBR was saying the gearbox is designed and build by them, as is their own mapping design imposed on Renault, all this while they complain of driveability.
I also remember that red bull drilled out the fuel flow sensor and cried bloody murder they were faulty. all in an effort to get rid of them. this team knows NO bounds.

F1 » Williams urges more fan research to develop F1

richard:
Seakay: Taz, you are entirely correct with your comment about F1 having become a marketing channel for car manufacturers.
the only car manufacturing company that uses f1 as a marketing channel is mercedes. ferrari have always used f1 as an extension of their car business. macca do not use it as a marketing tool for their few road cars. renault cannot use it as a tool as they have no performance cars to sell. red bull use it as a marketing tool for their brand. williams use it for marketing engineering, lotus have n connection with road cars, etc. the problem is that f1 is used as a brand in its own right, and there lies the problem. the brand has priced itself out of the market.
Ferrari does the EXACT same. unless your a red fan boy and cant see.

F1 » 'Performance deficit due to engine and chassis', says Renault

ProfessorX: it is the power unit, and if Renault is not serious enough, they might lose out to Honda by the end of the year. Red Bull out qualified every other Renault powered car (not counting the sponsor friendly teammate). Renault have not delivered a competitive motor. There is no getting around that fact, and until they do, RBR can do nothing against Ferrari and Merc, no matter how much the commentators talk up 'aero', even though more down-force requires a more efficient power unit. RBR can only hope for rain or a very fuel friendly track, that is about their only chance at a podium.
Hopefully you DO realize only two teams use a Renault engine.

F1 » 'Performance deficit due to engine and chassis', says Renault

[ blockquote]richard:

rob01:
DrRiff: I can't see how the chassis can be faulted if the PU stops working on the parade lap.
The chassis is unstable at the rear. It damaged the gearbox.
rob. the chassis did not damage the gearbox ! seeing as how the gearbox is mounted on the engine and not on the chassis, that is an impossibility. however the problem was that a bought in part in the oi pressure pump , failed, causing lack of oil pressure and hence overheating of the box. What's the engine mounted to?
