MotoGP » Hopkins in talks for AMA Superbike switch

When John was winning AMA championships at 18 years of age, it was easy to assume he would have a lot of success moving up. Unfortunately, it never really materialized. The lack of competitiveness with Suzuki & Kawasaki definitely played a role. He pushed those bikes beyond their limits and paid the price with his body as he crashed over and over. You have to wonder what could have been had he started at Honda. He might be at a differnet place right now. Oh well, I wish him the best of luck and will be watching him closely in AMA next season.

WSBK » Toseland will be happy – and fast – in WSBK

Hookem, Your words we're: "I cannot see Yamaha keeping James around if he does not challenge for the WSBK Superbike Championship for 2010." But in your last comment you said that he would have to finish top 5. So which is it? It's possible to finish top 5 and not be in contention for the title. Johnny Rea had a very slow start to the season then turned it up the second half and finished 5th without ever being close to the title. **This is what I was saying "COULD" happen (not that it definitely will)--a slow start but strong finish. If that happens, there's no way Yamaha would let him go. History has shown he'll work it out. Except.. obviously, if he finishes outside the top 10, well, no dispute there. James won't sniff another factory seat for as long as he lives.
