Let me get this straight. A man paints his face black and points at a steering wheel and this is viewed as a HEINOUS act? Seriously? Have we become maybe just a bit too sensitive?

Has the man called for violence against any of the racers? Has the crowd called for violence? Not as far as I am aware.

Suppose a fan shaves his head and makes fun of Rubens Barichello's baldness. Would that be HEINOUS too? Or would that just be one fan with bad taste? What if someone put on a big nose and made fun of Kubica?

Is it only skin color that we must pretend not to notice?

This is surreal.

Please, no personal attacks. I just don't understand the reaction here.

ps: About Hoosier - Hoosier is a manufacturer of race tires first and foremost. I think they may offer passenger car tires, but they make their money on race tires. As a result, there is little "marketing" upside for Hoosier - acting as tire supplier to F1 would need to be profitable on its own. For that reason I think Hoosier will never be an F1 supplier. F1's economics demand high marketing budgets in exchange for worldwide exposure. Hoosier+F1 makes no sense for either side. It'll be nice to get some competition back in the mix. GY vs Michelin vs Pirelli, like the old days.

******** to the people who say that it made no sense for Bridgestone to act as sole-supplier for F1. They have been in the sport for 12 years. They went from very low brand recognition to top-3 worldwide brand recognition during that time. F1 was a win for Bridgestone. It was not about bragging rights when a Bridgestone-clad car wins a race. It's about worldwide exposure. Same reason Santander pays up to be on Alonso's car. Someone else mentioned that the F1 technology is too far away from passenger car tires. You could say the same about pneumatic engine valves and dry ice in the radiators. So what!?!? It's not about tech transfer. It's the exposure!

Leaving aside the points chases, this was one of the most exciting races of the season. Lots of passing, mixing it up. A few incidents, no injuries. Different strategies on the track. It was definitely no parade. Why? I think it's the farce of qualifying. The grid was all out of order. Fast cars were out of the top 15, just because of the randomness of the rain. Slower cars were all through the grid. The resulting racing action was very good. Hamilton stormed up, what... 14 places. Kubica up 6 spots. Barichello down 7. Button made a series of on-track passes and gained 8-9 spots. Maybe we should do away with qualifying permanently, and select grid positions randomly.

2pac thanks for the explanation. I still don't understand what problem it is supposed to solve. In Nascar drivers race to the safety car. Is it really so much more dangerous in F1 that racers cannot race? And I agree with Mark - FIA seems happy to manipulate race results arbitrarily in order to extend the drama of the championship.

andy, the gap in the WDC standings is similar to what it was in the last 2 years, with 2 races remaining. It is not insurmountable.

What was the crime Rosberg is alleged to have committed? What is this time delta thing? The FIA sure seems like an arbitrary senile schoolmarm. They get into a sour mood and 5 people get penalized within 40 seconds. They change their mood and just skip the penalties. Last week with Rosberg's pit exit - that was a dangerous move and I can see the reason for that penalty. This time, I don't see the problem. What kind of bureaucratic, over-weening, big brother rule is it, this "time delta rule"? And what problem is it trying to solve?

Toyota have never won a race, and there are rumors about their commitment to F1. Why would Kimi agree to go there? Seems he would want to go to a top team, a committed team. Toyota is not a desirable seat next year. The addition of Cosworth engines will make things interesting. I would like to see Williams start competing for the podium more regularly again. If the cosworth tests well, I could see Kimi in a Williams.

What happened to Mark Webber - 5 stops? If he had finished where he should have, in the top 8, Button would be out of the points again. Alguesuari cracks me up. He was on the radio complaining about Rubens holding him up, then a few laps later he puts it into the tires on 130R. Best looking crash all season - right through that ING sign. Who is the next Vettel? I don't think Buemi or Algue are it. Grosjean? I don't think so. None of those new guys are impressing me. I'd like to see some new hotfoot drivers next year with the expanded field. ps: I didn't hear Rubens whining.

all you whiny children please relax about the names. Excellent result for Vettel. Keeping it interesting for the season. Why is it that I prefer Vettel to win the WDC? Nice race by Mr Trulli. Under pressure the entire race, he performed well. Lots of people are down on Trulli but he's had a couple of good races. Good team effort by Toyota to jump LH in the pitstops. Kubica nice effort at the end there, pushing Button. Kovaleinen pulled a nice Michael Schumacher impersonation, dissed Fisichella and Sutil. Nice work. anyone know of where I can find a results table like this: tinyurl.com/yc2295h only... up to date?

You people are amazingly uncharitable. calling Alonso "Horse face", wishing him ill, predicting his failure. What happened to you all, that you are so sour? Alonso is exciting. He drives with flair and passion. Comparing him to people like Heidfeld or Kovaleinen - it's not even close. We'll see next year, how he does against all the mercedes-powered teams, and against his own teammate. That alone is enough to be excited about the move. I don't know why people are so sour, so much of the time. Can we not pull for one driver without hating another?
