F1 » Runners-up joy for Alonso on home turf

I don't understand the personal animosity on here regarding Hamilton or Alonso. Neither of these guys is despicable. Arrogant? Which F1 driver is not full of himself, earning millions to pilot a million-dollar car, while thousands of fans PAY just to see him. . . F1 is about the spectacle. It's a managed entertainment event. That's why there are limits on testing and frozen engines - otherwise big-money Ferrari would run away with it every year. What Hamilton and Alonso do is make it exciting on the track. How can anyone dislike that? What is this talk of foxholes and going to war? Ridiculous. They are ENTERTAINERS. No one is shooting at you. Relax and enjoy the race.

F1 » Webber wins Spanish Grand Prix

CC how is Alonso the winner? He finished 23s behind a coasting mark webber. He inherited the podium because 2 drivers in front of him had mechanical problems. I like Alonso, but he definitely was not "the winner". he drove a clean race, stayed out of trouble, and the car held together. good for him. same can be said of Schu, or massa, or most of the top 10...?

F1 » Alonso: My reflexes let me down

Ya'll want to see Alonso yield. But he's a race driver and he wants to be WDC. He's got to have a killer instinct in order to accomplish that. It's not about "teammates". In fact if it were anyone else, he may have not done the pass. But because Massa is his teammate, the pass avoided the "stacking" wait and was therefore worth +10s on the track. That's hard racing. If you want everyone to get a fair shake, and get along, go watch a little league game, or touch football.

F1 » KERS to return?

Turbulence, downforce... whatever. The point is, if the car's ratio of mechanical-to-aero grip is increased, the racing stands to improve. F1 seems to have painted itself into a corner, though, with costs, dependence on major mfgers, etc. Sports cars and GP2 are almost as fast, yet much less costly. The way to go forward seems to be to completely cut the dependency on aero. Just eliminate wings completely. At that point it starts looking like a 1967 Jacky Ickx special. // I'm not so sure that would be a bad thing for F1. But it would send reverberations through all other FIA racing series. What happens to Gp2 if F1 abolishes wings?

F1 » Alonso: Here we gave RBR a gift, next time we will challenge

is it legal to change engines between Qualifying and the starting grid? I was thinking maybe Ferrari put in the Bahrain engines, known to be damaged in some way, seeing that they had a P20 start. Maybe write off the entire weekend, see what happens. But not sure that it's legal to swap engines between Quali and race start. Did they not do that in Bahrain?

F1 » Schumacher: Vettel 'the biggest threat' in F1 2010

I don't recall Vettel making a trend of self destructing. I recall him wrecking while in the lead, when... ? at Spa last year? Am I right about that? Has that kind of thing happened before? somebody refresh my memory. I don't recall it as a trend, though. The first two races this year can't be blamed on Vettel. his car didn't hold up. Maybe he owns some of that, but mostly it's the car. I agree Schu should worry about besting his teammate before concerning himself with the boys on the front row. But the way I read his comments, he's saying Vettel is the favorite, the threat to win the WDC. Not the threat to Schumacher.

F1 » Upbeat Hamilton insists his turn will come

Am I getting old, or are the personal attacks getting more prevalent? One comment into this thread and we have name calling and attacks. I thought this "have your say" stuff was about racing. Shouldn't it be ok for someone to voice an opinion? (even if it's wrong) The challenge between teammates is always interesting every year. Hamilton/Button, Alonso/Massa, and Schu/Rosberg will all be fun to watch! Vettel/Webber is the only pairing of the top 4 teams that doesn't seem to hold any drama. We don't have any Alonso/Piquet rivlaries this year, thank god. Whatever happens, Hamilton will not lose his ride.
