Let me get this straight. A man paints his face black and points at a steering wheel and this is viewed as a HEINOUS act? Seriously? Have we become maybe just a bit too sensitive?

Has the man called for violence against any of the racers? Has the crowd called for violence? Not as far as I am aware.

Suppose a fan shaves his head and makes fun of Rubens Barichello's baldness. Would that be HEINOUS too? Or would that just be one fan with bad taste? What if someone put on a big nose and made fun of Kubica?

Is it only skin color that we must pretend not to notice?

This is surreal.

Please, no personal attacks. I just don't understand the reaction here.

I don't have the stats to back me up but isn't it true that Kovi has been pretty consistently behind Hamilton in qualifying? People say Kovalainen has been starting races heavy. Wouldn't that make sense if he is 2-3 slots behind his teammate on the start grid?

The departure of Symonds and Flav could just be a savvy way to avoid all the messy questions. Guilty or not, it would still be very embarassing and costly to Renault to have to go through an inquisition. And also pointless with Renault departing F1 at the end of the year. Maybe this is a shortcut through the whole mess. Not to mention Flav is still a businessperson and I assume Symonds is, also. They don't need the scandal and questioning either. what a mess.

Hammy drove well. A rare mistake at the end, remarkable for how rare it is. There's no way I agree with some posters who rate him as /average/. Last year I watched him lap the field in the rain, at... what, Monaco? (I can't recall the venue) He was tops for many years in the lower tiers of racing, prior to his arrival in F1. I don't consider myself a Hamilton fanatic, in fact I like the Red Horse and my favorite driver is Alonso. (can't wait for 2010). Now that Massa is out, I root for Kimi. But there's no way you can wave away Hamilton. (I also don't think Kimi is a slacker) I'm not trying to change andrewm's mind. That'd be pointless. Just articulating my perspective...

The story of this race is not Lewis Hamilton's off. It's the resurgence of Brawn GP on a high-speed track. Nice 1-stop strategy, they made it work. Rubens drove a great race, and Button finally returned to the podium. Looks sure that the WDC is now a contest between Rubens and Jenson. The gap is down to 14 points, 5 races left. Not insurmountable by any means. And Rubens continues to best Jenson.

I always feel like I need a shower after listening to Briatore. He is alleging that Nelsinho had a relationship with a 50yr old man. Who the hell cares? This guy smells. The so called "proof" that Piquet deliberately crashed is the telemetry data that showed he did not lift off the throttle as he lost grip on the exit of the corner. But this is not proof. It could also be due to an unforced driver error. There is no way to know. I do know that if I were a driver being asked to crash on purpose, I'd quit. Whether he is lying or telling the truth, Piquet has demonstrated his sense of principle. If he is lying, then he's a liar. If he's telling the truth, he's a cheater.

If Piquet crashed on purpose hsi superlicense should be revoked, and he should never be permitted to race again. Whether it resulted in an injury or even whether the resulting crash "appeared to be dangerous" is not the point. If I speed 95mpg on a neighborhood road, and no one gets killed, that does not make me innocent. My actions endangered others, and for that I should be sanctioned. Regardless what he was "ordered" to do, Piquet is no different. If he is admitting to purposefully crashing, ban him.

@2pac, look for Hamilton and Raikonnen to pit on the same lap. There was a similar gap in weights at Spa, and you might have guessed the Ferrari would be good for an additional lap on the first stint, but Kimi and Fisichella pitted on the same lap. Look for the same to happen at Monza.

Will be an interesting start tomorrow. The way these races go, Qualifying is 50% of the race, the start is another 30%, pitstops another 20%, and the remainder is the lapping. Kimi has shown an ability to make jumps at the start, while LH is generally good but has had problems. Regardless, Sutil is the odd man out among the top 4, the only one without Kers. Look for Kovi and Kimi to try to jump him at the start. I'm betting for Button to slowly backup during the course of the race, while Rubens will move up 2 places. After Monza the WDC will be even closer.
