F1 » Vettel title hangs in balance

a lot of this is media hype. Posted by richard (12 minutes ago) Actually this has been in discussion on the internet especially in F1 pages in Facebook before the press started actively reporting it. Its a hot topic and a controversial one. Either way this will lead to more clarifications of the caution signals.

F1 » Donations roll in for Kobayashi

Mike, with the Japanese economy flat most companies there are in survival mode one reason there is no Japanese engine manufacturer in F1 at the moment. F1 is an expensive sport and teams big and small have to look for sponsorship because sponsors come and go or cut their funding. I like Kobayashi to stay in F1 but he does not have the sponsorship money to retain his seat at Sauber and sadly asking his fans for donations is the only way he can get a drive unless some company is willing to fork over some moolah as a sponsor.

F1 » Hamilton set for early Mercedes contact

@Ptolomy Lewis didn't say he was going to work less. He's just going to do less sponsorship work so he can train and prepare for next year. As for taking a long holiday in December, what's wrong that? Most of teams are probably looking forward to the Christmas break before winter testing starts in January. Traveling around the world for 20 races, lugging all that equipment and living out of a suitcase is tiring enough.

F1 » Hamilton set for early Mercedes contact

when do driver contracts expire? Obviously it's not immediately after the final race of the season, is it a 31st December thing? Posted by GaryB - Unregistered (1 hour 31 minutes ago) You are correct it is usually at end of the year a drivers contract expires before a team transfer but some teams may bend a little bit. Damon Hill was allowed to talk to the Jordan team but did not do any technical work until his contract with Arrows expired back in 1997 prior to his move his new team. I guess McLaren is willing to do the same thing for Lewis.
