F1 » Hamilton: I don't regret signing for Mercedes

Sunny, Autosport did report that McLaren added the 2 mill hoping to keep Lewis in the team not a tabloid. You can Google it. As to WHAT was going on behind the scenes DURING the negotiations we really do not have an idea except it may have been intense. We can only speculate on what we read in the press unless of course someone here has a direct phone number to the parties involved and have the nerve to ask them for specifics of the contract which they may or may not reveal and also take note I used the word "we," on my post in regards to "arm chair critics," in truth that's what we all are here in Crash. We go by what we read and see me included. Fair enough for you?

richard, you kinda missed what I was saying. Yes McLaren did ask Lewis to take a pay cut but they matched Mercedes' in terms of cash value. I did not mention anything about sponsors. Truth be known is the only ones that DO KNOW what went on in the negotiations are Lewis, his manager, Mercedes and McLaren. We are just arm chair critics that comment on what we read in the press and F1 websites.

Whatever mclaren's final offer was it must have still been less then what they were paying him before. . Posted by 107SS2009 (19 hours ago) Sunny, McLaren did initially asked Lewis to take a pay cut. However when negotiations started getting serious with Mercedes did McLaren match their offer even put an extra 2million pounds. Various media outlets reported this even Autosport.
