F1 fans would forget Robert Kubica long before they forget Ferrari

My perfect world would see Spies and Toseland on Yamahas in WSBK, and Edwards and Vermuelen on the Tech3 Yamahas in MotoGP. Edwards has changed a bit since his Aprilia and Movistar Honda days in MotoGP. He seems more humble (having Rossi spank you for two years tends to do that), and more mature. He lets his riding do more of the talking rather than his unbearable mouth. At this point in the season I would definitely say he still deserves a ride in MotoGP. But if he were to pair with Biaggi on the RSV4, they would also make a formidable pair.

I thought I would add, from Yamaha's perspective where would Spies be of the most use to them? As a third or fourth rider in MotoGP or as the Terminator in WSBK? What is his worth in each series? What would it cost to beat him if he left Yamaha? If Ben was on, say, Xerox Ducati in WSBK 2010, how many $$$ would it take Yamaha to have a chance at beating him? Who would they hire and what would he cost? Maybe Biaggi or Haga or Mladin, but they don't ride for beer money.

Going to Tech 3 would be a mistake, IMO, unless he has assurances that he would be on the factory team the next year. All Rossi has to do is decide to race another year or two and it's "sorry Ben maybe next year". Yamaha would be dumb to let Lorenzo go as well. Rizla Suzuki would be even worse, as the bike is uncompetitive and will likely stay that way. A "factory" Gresini Honda would be a possibility, but Honda seems so political and would make sure the Repsol riders get the best stuff first. That really leaves staying in WSBK, where he likes it and fans like him. Complete dominance. Yamaha could pay him a few million to win more titles. They already have MotoGP covered.

The wild cards look pretty tame to me.

Spies out in front from the first session doesn't bode well for the competition.

Hypekins can't put together a full season of consistent podium finishes, and thus will never be a champion in any world racing series. He crashes too frequently, usually hurting himself or the bike. The best he can hope for is to be a spoiler, possibly winning a few WSBK races and banking a few more $$$ before retirement.

Spies near the front with Haga behind several Brit wild cards could be a good way to make up a large number of points.

If you were Bernie, why not have the "compromise" be that the factories buy his contract rights for a couple hundred million? It will cost them at least that much to organize a worldwide FOTA series. This way they have the infrastructure and the "Formula One" name. So Bernie then waits a year or two for the factory-run series to devolve into egos and infighting and buys the rights back for a song. And if it doesn't collapse, he is still sitting on a beach enjoying life, lighting cigars with 100 pound notes.

What is going to be his excuse if his teammate comes to a track with one rainy race weekend of experience and kicks his butt? What are all the fans of British riders going to say if Spies destroys all the home boys?

Hacking had worked into the top 6 or so BEFORE the riders in front of him pitted to switch bikes. This race seemed to have a very narrow window where switching bikes made sense: too early and you were sliding around on a wet track with slicks, too late and your rain tires were destroyed. Like Byrne, in hindsight Hacking waited too long to pit.
