MotoGP » Moto2 threatens 250GP pole at Jerez.

there has been no new technology in 2-Strokes for a decade or so, only refinements because nobody want's to poor money into development of 'dead' technology. Manufacturers develop race technology for the spin-offs they can put into production which is how they get revenue. Do you think young engineers with new ideas and talent want to waste there time refining 2-strokes?? I'm an engineer, electrical not mechanical, but take it from me I want to work on new not old technologies. it's nice to have this romantic view of 2-strokes but the reality is they don't make sense in today's world they're too expensive and too environmentally unfriendly. roll on moto2!

F1 » Button damns F1 statistics for Turkish GP glory

like i've said on other posts the driver /car balance in F1 is weighted so far in favor of the car that the only way you can judge a driver is by comparing his performance against his team mate. the shock this year is that unlike last year button is outperforming rubens. i don't know what's changed if this years car just suits his driving style but whatever it is he's making the most of it and that has to be applauded. if you want the top 10 drivers in F1 today list the best performing driver in each team, that's the fairest selection you can make IMHO.

F1 » Button damns F1 statistics for Turkish GP glory

unfortunately FooAtari no matter what rules you put in place the designers, being the clever people they are, will always find a way to claw back the losses in down-force caused by the revised regulations. This year should have seen a 40% reduction in down-force but in fact it's more like 25% and you'll always have the problem of a car following in the dirty air of the car in front where the reduction in down-force makes it impossible to pass. The only solution is to get rid of all the wings and make a formula where mechanical grip takes precedence over aero efficiency but I don't think the FIA have the balls to make the necessary changes.

F1 » Button wins Turkish Grand Prix.

pleased for Jenson but very, very disappointed that with all the rule changes at the point in the race that Vettel was almost 0.5secs a lap quicker than Button he still wasn't able to overtake him on the track. In fact running in Buttons 'dirty air' seemed to cook his tyres because of the reduced downforce and he had to drop back. The FIA still have work to do so that we start seeing more on the track racing and less races decided by grid position and pit-stops.

F1 » Hamilton: McLaren got slower and slower, but we'll bounce back

absolutely right FreddyFreeloader, thanks for the balance viewpoint. what this season more than any other has shown is that the balance in F1 between driver and car making a good package is weighted so much towards the car that the performance of any driver can only measured by his results against his team mate. Hamilton is not a bad driver this year and maybe wasn't the best last year, conversely Button wasn't the worst last year and may not be the best now. What I can say is Button is better than Rubens, Alonso is better than Piquet & Hamilton is better than Kovi on current form. How about sticking to the facts guys and staying in some contact with reality.

F1 » REVEALED: Post-qualifying F1 car weights in Istanbul

Agree with you Alan D on the reduced fuel issue for KERS cars it would have emphasised the green aspect, but like on many occasions the FIA have gone off "half ****ed". I (or more precisely my brother) can confirm that you are correct regarding the braking issues for KERS cars with the breaking force altering as the KERS system charges. It appears that the KERS cars are so fundamentally compromised due to the extra 25-30Kg and poor weight distribution that the extra 80Hp isn't proving to be a sufficient advantage. Eddie Jordan said that he bet a KERS car wouldn't make pole position this season and the further the season goes the more I gotta agree with his assessment.
