It was a sea gull. Pigeons are positively nice creatures. Thing is there are several courses in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Although I am partial to a round of golf (I am absolutely terrible at it!) I don't want anymore courses. There is an arguement that once the North Sea oil and gas runs out Aberdeen and shire will struggle economically but that is a long way off. Add to that the fact that so many oil related companies are based in Aberdeen and have a lot of local workers, I can't see any of the oil companies leaving as they are all so established and it is possible to run and oil and gas field from the other side of the world.

The majority of H&S legislation and wotnot has saved lives but it has got to the stage where there is not accountablity on the individual. The one that annoys me is asbestos. Yes it is dangerous and it can kill, there is no disputing that fact but there have been times when I have said to an occupier of a building I am looking at that there is suspected asbestos in some areas and they start panicking. I blame the media for that one as whenever there is an asbestos death reported they always fail to report that if it is undisturbed it is safe. You could have a lump of the stuff in your living room and it will be practically 100% safe as long as it is not broken and handled with care.

And not to mention that in the summertime, the place is over-run with winged vermin. And yes they do attack you. I have one thump me on the head and I tell you it was sore! Luckily it decided to not excavate it's last meal on me.

derek - the uglyer the vainer I reckon. Apparently the people that havn't sold up are being offered lifetime membership to the golf course and their choice of villa/house once they are built. But realisticly what has Aberdeen got to offer a few rich Americans? Yes there are some good restraunts and their is the theatre and some senic countryside is near-by but Aberdeen is a dump. I grew up just north of Aberdeen and have been living in An=berdeen for nearly 4 years and to be honest compared with Edinburgh and Inverness, it is a mess of tatty shops, takeaways and the permantly marked pavements from the night before. Lovely eh?

That's how I view H&S, PCness etc. Freedom of choice and all that. It should be the individuals choice but thanks to the suing culture and the nanny state we have to be spoon fed everything and their is no personnal accounablity. And you'll like this one. I had to do a survey of an industrial unit owned by a major oil related company. To get to this unit I had to walk accross a busy yard and was told to wear a high-viz vest, hard hat and steel toe cap boots. The person escorting me to this unit didn't bother with any of the village people outfit. Good eh?! The company is so scared of getting sued by an outside operative but don't give a stuff about their own people.

The golf course is bad enough, but he is only really interested in the houses which will only be used about 5 days a year each going by the people they are aimed at. Thanks to the intimidation tatics and the Aberdeenshire planners being generally gutless, the Menie Estate will be ruined permanently.
