Hey Nori fan

Let's be clear.

Spies had 25 pts stolen from by the famous Fab torpedo.

Hagi lost 10 pts to Fab.

Case 1: Spies stolen pts were out of his control.
Case 2: Nori lost his pts because he couldn't keep up to his teammate. Well within his control .. just race harder if want to be Champ and not have pts gift wrapped.

Suck it up. Spies by far deserves this Title.

@ judge How do you equate a really impressive win to texas a55? Rae did very well today in Race 2. A lap record on a last lap is impressive indeed. But why incorporate this success with a shot at Spies and his being an American. Are you really that petty? We should celebrate how well Spies is doing and perhaps how well Rae can do. Rae has shown us some very good consecutive outings. At the end of the day, we should hope that Spies and Rae, et all ... can make a successful jump to MotoGP. Do we really want to see Rossi and Lorenzo continue to finish more than 10 seconds ahead of everybody else more often than not?

@ boo hoo hayden Nope, at the end of the season, the time honoured system of collecting points is the fairest way to establish the season’s rankings. What I was attempting here was a preemptive comment regarding today's results and the inevitable nasty posts about Hayden. As soon as Hayden's name is in an article there are usually many negative posts, more so against him than any other racer out there as I'm sure you can agree? Right Mr boo hoo hayden? I am also sure that within 2 days, it will be quoted that Kallio finished ahead of Hayden for 1 race without context of that finish. As in Hayden's mishap today was out of his control whereas Kallio's mishaps were all his doing.

@Roar. There's a world of difference between the incidents. You'll recall that Kallio crash was self induced and behaved like a fool and then had the nerve to point at Melandri for the crash. Hayden gets p1ssed with de Angelis after being taken out in turn 2 on the opening lap. Even Rookies know not to try risky passes on the opening lap. So, yeah, Hayden was p1ssed and rightly so. You're absolutely spot on about the 250 race. That was something to watch.

No matter what, a racer will get criticized. Vali is criticized for over celebrating and Dani criticized for being a drip. This is a matter of opinion and there are no right or wrong. I prefer to see such celebrations and I like seeing the GOAT carry on as he does. Good work Mr. GOAT.

(con't) So yes, Toseland, Elias, and Vermeulen ... are ahead of Hayden in the overall standings. But are they really performing better? In another article in Crash regarding WSBK, one poster was on about Spies not having won a WSBK Title and not even in the pts lead. Not in the pts lead? So the Spies minimum 50 pts lost, without argument, are forgotten. Getting torpedoed by Fabrizio and running out of gas which gives Fabrizio his rather tainted victory.

Unfortunately for Hayden, this crash will give more fodder to his legion of Haters. Next week when this crash and lost points are forgotten, we'll have those wizard posters citing 'stats' without context. The DNF's are indicated by .. - .. without any indication whether it was rider error like Rossi last week or in this case, not rider error like Hayden and Edwards getting popped by de Angelis. So when the inevitable and tiring articles about James' ride is being questioned before the upcoming Imola race, we'll have the current standings quoted for comparison. (con't)

Well put Weasel. Kallio has much to show us regarding sportmnaship capabilities before he gets back in my good book. He does have talent and drive (like getting a finger partially amputated and he's right back on it). That was really impressive. He just has to learn to be a good sport.

And one more addition .... This weekend is awesome. It’s a long weekend for Canadians (Labour day). There are 4 racing events for me to follow. MotoGP at San Marino WSBK at Germany AMA at Jersey Canadian Superbike at Shannonville. Too bad the Croft Race is Sept 13 instead of Sept 6. It would have been fun to have to monitor 5 events.

I should also add .... I have to admit, if Haga wins the title then there’s one aspect that I will find irritating. This is the displacement change of the Ducati for this year. I never have understood this. Bayliss wins the title on 1098cc yet this isn’t good enough and Ducati is given the green light to increase displacement by 100cc for 2009. I would have really loved to hear the Ducati Team spin doctors on this one. How do you explain that despite winning the title they need to have another displacement advantage.

This is a tough call because I really like Haga and his racing history but I also like what Spies has done with his Rookie season. It’s not often we get to see this type of accomplishment. This should be awarded with a title. I’m also giving the nod to Spies because I’d like to see the jump to MotoGP and if he wins the WSBK title then there should be less critisim of the jump and the WSBK experience vs 250cc experience debate. This should be very interesting.
