MotoGP » 'Huge drop' for Ben Spies after early lead

I tend to agree that Ben has too many chinks in his armour unlike Jorge who is on a roll now with a bike more competitive than last years. And Cal's electrifying run shows the Tech 3 bikes or on an equal footing with the Factory. Ben will need to be near the front from now on if he is to retain his seat and this definitely puts him at a disadvantage if he does get a chance to negotiate his contract.

MotoGP » Lorenzo pips Spies at Aragon MotoGP test'r right. I had high hopes for him and obviously Yamaha did as well. But he has performed very poorly this season and it's puzzling and disappointing. He says on his web site that he is building confidence. Pardon me but when a rider is elevated to a factory ride, confidence would seem to be assumed. Was he never really tested in tricky dangerous conditions? To some extent maybe. When he was on pole at Indy with Tech 3 that was a stellar performance but the track however slippery was dry. I fear if Silverstone lives up to he rep he will suffer another setback. It's because he raised such high expectations for fellow Americans that his performance on the 1000cc bikes is such a let down.

MotoGP » Lorenzo pips Spies at Aragon MotoGP test

It's not so much as confidence as the willingness to risk his neck at the limit. Why does he always wobble around mid-pack in FP instead of being at the front where all the other factory riders are (can't count ducati--that's a special case. Ducati was lucky it had a rider like Casey who was tough enough to go to the limit KNOWING he would crash). as I said, Ben's soft.
