Le Mans » Hulkenberg leads Porsche to stunning Le Mans win

Awesome. Was really happy to see Hulk get a win, vindicating his decision to give WEC a try as an active F1 driver. You just don't see much of this crossover in racing anymore. Kurt Busch did it over in the states a year or two back but there's not so much of it in Europe. Big congratulations to both Tandy and Bamber as well. Along with Hulk this was each of their first opportunities in an LMP1 package at Le Mans. Hell, Hulk and Bamber were rookies! So to get the win in the face of much more experienced competition both with Audi and within the Posrche team was phenomenal. Thoroughly deserved for each of them.

F1 » Alonso anticipates Hungary ‘opportunity’

107SS2009: Those at mclaren/Honda are looking forward to Hungary for the following reasons, Honda says they will be using their FULL ERS power for the first time since the start of the season, the track is the second slowest on the calendar, with sharp corners and short straights, were full throttle use is 56% of the lap, the braking system (friction material) temperatures and wear control are key to the race.
Are people disagreeing with you because what you said is wrong or because they believe Honda's talking a load of old cobblers?

F1 » Hamilton beats Williams, rain in British GP thriller

here4thesun2: What a frustrating race to watch. Oh wait, unless you're a Hamilton fan. Well done. Lots of luck. Lots of skill. Lots of results. Good to see Nico claw back second. A lap or two more if the rain held off and Nico would have been by. But Hamilton would have given a hard time in the rain. No if ands or buts.
I think it was frustrating only if you are an anti-Hamilton fan. The race was exciting and had lots of drama. It was a great race for once.
Erm, not quite. I was irritated because we really didn't see a proper Merc vs Merc battle for the win. Every time it looked like Rosberg could challenge Hamilton something out of his control scuppered it. Congrats to Hamilton, but I'm not going away from that race feeling satisfied. Not at all. 9/10ths of the way there, but getting denied a true battle for the lead irks me.

MotoGP » ‘Better and better’ Pedrosa vindicated by podium

Getting there. Bit-by-bit. Also, I hope this season is silencing doubters as to why Pedrosa keeps being retained by Honda. Aside from being better than every rider linked with the seat look at what's happening this year. The bike's a bit off and Marc's binned it at every opportunity. Even Pedrosa has lost it. But Dani's the one finishing the races most often. That data is invaluable to Honda who'll want to sort their issues out ASAP.

MotoGP » ‘Racing incident’ costs Crutchlow podium fight

reinmacre: Cal, for you to presume you would have been on the podium, what you are in effect saying is that you'd have beaten at least six riders that out qualified you. Not sure about that. Big shout out to BS38, top satellite rider!
So he reckons he could have beat Dani then? Really? Beyond delusional at times this guy...
To be fair Dani isn't on top form yet. He's still recovering bit-by-bit. Did a very solid job today and inherently I believe has a pace advantage over Cal whether due to bike or man. But Dani's not tip top yet. Cal is. So it's not unreasonable. I personally think Dani would have had him and that Cal would have been battling Aleix, Bradders & Crazy Joe but it's not out of the realms of possibility that Cal could have podiumed.

MotoGP » Caught out Marquez left with ‘nothing to lose’

I kind of get pushing the bike to the limit and over to win. It's great racing spirit in that sense but there are two things that really irritate me about Marc's riding. First, that crash today wasn't the bike. That was all Marc badly messing up his braking point. He went into the gravel so fast he couldn't keep the bike standing. Not only is that a stupid move it also endangered Lorenzo's safety. Second, Marc's taking such a selfish attitude to these races. Race on the limit, fine. But Marc is regularly pushing above and beyond the limit and crashing as a result. What good is that in terms of helping identify and negotiate your bike's problems? The team want as much data as possible. Sometimes you've got to know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. This aspect of racing must hurt Marc and I get that but it's that maturity to soldier on through the hard times that he needs to learn.

F1 » Haas unlikely to make Danica Patrick F1 swoop

I'm all for women in F1 but the first thing to look for is skill. Danica as a circuit racer has never been that great. She's better at ovals. She doesn't seem to be good enough for F1. That said with the nature of F1 and teams at the back of the grid needing sponsorship money to survive I wouldn't be completely averse to seeing her in Formula 1 if she beings in such an amount of sponsorship money that it allows Haas to really push on development-wise. I know it sucks because in the ideal world we would have F1 drivers hired on talent alone but if it allows Haas to then bring in a good ambitious driver and/or develop the car quicker, it may be beneficial.
