MotoGP » Ben Spies tests for two

I see a lot of positives from this test for Yamaha. Ben being only behind the Hondas by half a second is not too shabby. You have to realize that he was still not 100% after all the crashes he's had the past few races, and as the only Yamaha test rider he couldn't afford to crash and leave Yamaha with no test data.

MotoGP » Valencia MotoGP test times - Tuesday 5pm

Don-R & RawDawg, very good interview with Nakamoto in the current issue of Cycle News that explains HRC's offer to Dovi. What I found most interesting is Nakamoto's acknowledgement of Hondas superior acceleration over their competitors. Of course, some of the Crash "experts" out here will be quick to discount what the head of HRC has to say about their bike having an edge in acceleration... or Dovi's evaluation that the Yamaha is soft on power in corner exit but handles extremely well.

MotoGP » Spies bounces back for front row start

Yes Don-R I was pleasantly surprised to see him getting quicker as the QP went on, posting his best time on the last lap he put in. It's a big ask for him to stick with Casey and Dani tomorrow since he's obviously beaten up, and who knows what the weather will be like tomorrow. He came in and rested a lot during QP, a luxury he won't have during the race. That said I hope he has a great race and as always he will give 100%.

MotoGP » Ben Spies withdraws from Malaysian MotoGP

Smart move, actually. Would have been wise of him to have sat this round out completely and come back after three weeks R&R for Valencia. The first off he had in FP he was on his hands and knees for a few seconds before he could get up. The QP crash he was almost staggering after he got up and had to lean against the service vehicle that came. Now he has less than two weeks to get healthy for Valencia. He has a 17 point lead over Rossi and Simo, so it would take either of these riders to place 2nd or better to displace him from 5th. I think the best Simo can do this weekend is 3rd unless there are some crashes at the front, and Rossi, well, not on the podium unless it rains. So odds are Ben should be holding on to 5th going into the final round.
