I have to agree with Aeolus on this one. Not on the fact that BSB doesn't prepare a rider, but winning one's domestic series means nothing in translation to consistent success on the WSBK circus. Case in point:
Byrne: 2 time BSB champion
Kiyonari: 2 time BSB champion
Lavilla: BSB champion
Borciani: CIV champion

Bayliss and Spies are just a notch better than the competition but this doesn't guarantee anything either in the move to MotoGP.

I think it's great that a true privateer team is having a go at it but Sergio Bertocchi is involved in this and is the B in FB Corse...the other being Andrea Ferarri. Recalling how Bertocchi's team performed in WSBK I'm not going to be to overly optimistic. Anyways, congratulations to them and best of luck.

What happened to Veneman? Bummer to see him so far down the grid.

Oh brother...to those of you who are moaning about Spies staying in SBK one more year, no one really gives a d**n much less Spies. Spies is in this for the money just as much as he's in it because he loves it and is good at it. You can bet that Yammy Europe is giving him an annual salary that most of us won't see in 20 years of work. Why wouldn't he not do it? Every rider who has been in both series paddocks unequivocally state that the WSBK paddock is the most laid back and friendly there is. Of course he wants one more year of that when a huge pay check, the best bike and I'm sure the promise a full factory backed M1 for 2011, comes with it. Good for him...his career, his life, his choice.

It's pretty much a fact that riders that come with sponsorship money are going to get the rides. Look at Nieto and other riders that are like him that come with some kind of backing. Most likely these guys have some kind of backing and that's why they're getting the opportunity to test with the team. As was said in an earlier post, most of the young British talent have made it to where they are with no backing. That's fine in Superstock and Supersport but in the sbk class those who have backing are going to get the chances especially when they are just fill in riders. There are exceptions but they seem to be in the minority. It sucks, but that's just the way it is.

Well, I'll be the first to say that Hill proved me wrong. After the dismal performance at Althea, I said that he wouldn't do anything with this ride and that he would have to hit the ground running if he wanted to salvage his name as a racer...and that's exactly what he's done. Congratulations to him and I wish him the best in what looks like the beginning of good performances again.

What a forgettable year for Lavilla. First the Pro Ride team going bust and now being dropped by Guandalini due to lack of funds. It seems for some reason that none of the former BSB champs is having a good year this year. All of them are top class riders which begs the question...is it the bikes/teams they're on or is the talent/competition that much stronger in WSBK. Or is it a combination of both?

While things like this happen in racing, such as Haga taking out Kagayama in the last turn a few years back, the fact that Brookes has been the cause of two race accidents this year should be cause for the BSB jury to issue a punishment. Whether it be to sit out a round or deduct points is for them to decide. An outright ban is too much and would do BSB damage as all riders would then be to scared to ride on the ragged edge for fear of crashing and then being banned. Neutering the riders is not what we want but on the flipside Josh needs to know that he needs to bring himself slightly more under control.

@ VRob...fair play to you on Jonathan Rea. He is coming on strong and more than likely will join that VERY short list of successful WSS riders who made the transition to the sbk class and repeated their success. However, the list of graduates from WSS to WSBK who flopped is a big one. Chambon, Fujiwara, Muggeridge and on and on. It's funny when I come back the following day to see that my comments have been disagreed with but no counter arugment from anyone. That's nationalism talking. Respect to VRob and the few others who post as to why they disagree. We may not agree but at least they post their opinions. :)

I liked Gibernau strictly for the fact that he's the only one who rattled Rossi's cage back in the day. Rossi never had a competitor up to that time who could race with him flat out and beat him. Then along came Gibernau. The fact that Rossi "cursed" him proves that he rattled Rossi's cage. Who has Rossi "cursed" recently or made him upset like Gibs did? Rossi was glad to see him back and I can guarantee that Rossi considered it an injustice that Gibs was a back marker. These "age" comments are ridiculous and are probably being made by early 20s, overweight, wannabe riders who own a liter Gixxer and go fast in a straight line.
