F1 » Channel 4 scores healthy figures for live F1 TV debut

Good show, on the whole. Still stuff to improve, though. Susie Wolff is pointless. It definitely doesn't need more than two pundits, and she was much weaker than DC and Webber. She might have been useful in getting access to the Merc garage, but if you're going to get in, at least do something other than sit at the back for a minute then walk out without speaking to anybody. A much bigger disappointment, though, was Jordan's "interview" with Ecclestone. A four minute opportunity for the old man to spout meaningless drivel about nothing, mostly quali, when there are far more important questions for him to answer. This is the man who is denying millions of UK viewers "free-to-air" access. From what I've seen, no interviewer has tackled him about it. No-one has asked him if "non-paying" fans are no longer important to him. No one has mentioned how he thinks the sponsors are going to react to seeing their UK eyeballs reduced by eighty percent. I had thought Jordan would, but no. Wimp.

F1 » Suzi Perry rules out Channel 4 F1 move

theeagle: Smart move by a smart woman. She wont be taken in by the F1 /C4 nonsense. More fool for Coulthard (signing up for F1/ C4) and Jordan going to Top Gear. The latter wont last a year at TG. Coulthard never set tracks alight either. A useless no-gooder.
What on earth do you mean by "F1/C4 nonsense"? They haven't even started and you're prejudging. And you should keep up with the news. The new production company for Channel 4's F1 coverage is part owned by DC. What's foolish about putting yourself in charge of the UK free-to-air F1 presentation? A "useless no-gooder", you say? He's pretty well respected and liked by the vast majority of ex BBC viewers, the majority of whom are pleased that he'll be continuing his involvement. As for Jordan and Top Gear, where's the relevance? At this moment it's just one more rumour, although you seem happy to lap it up.

F1 » Eddie Jordan chooses Top Gear over Channel 4

mrfill:
ashmerlin: Decided? Seeing that Coulthard is one of the directors of the media company presenting F1 on C4 - I'm not sure he really had an option to continue. It would be fair to say EJ and DC don't see eye to eye. I hope C4 get some good people to rival SKY....but just not having EJ is a step forward!
Strange then that the commercial director of Whisper is Jordan's son.
Why do you find that strange?

F1 » Marko wants Renault to prioritise Red Bull over own team

richard:
LaughingGas: Is he drunk?? Why would Renault do that when they have their own team??
well, i for one believe that helmut is correct. redbull have a far better chance of providing results. lotus renault have a poor car and renault have dilly dallied with their engine over the last few years yet rbr have performed and provided them with championships. you will probably find that rbr will have around double the wcc points of renault this year. remember honda? in the 60s they tried to produce their own car which had the most powerful engine and it was a failure, but then surtees put the engine in a lola chassis, and suddenly they were able to get results.
Whilst agreeing with you that RB will probably beat Renault this year, I don't think you do your argument any good by suggesting that a situation fifty years ago is relevant today. In the first place, the Hondola was built with the full cooperation and blessing of Honda, who

F1 » Channel 4 to televise F1 as BBC cancels contract

Taz: Good news that ITV didn't get it. I wonder if some of the team got transferred over? would be a shame to lose DC but EJ and McNish disappearing would be no loss. Good move by channel 4 who had become a bit irrelivant.
Yep. I wouldn't miss Jordan or McNish. Suzie as well, for that matter. But DC has been brilliant (contrary to my early expectations), and Lee would be a loss. She should have been fronting the show since Jake Wotsit left.
