MotoGP » Hayden: Open, Factory, Factory 2… it’s confusing

it's all semantics. i dont know why there need to be formal subclasses. motogp just needs to be 1 class, with various technical "penalties" that apply based on success (or lack thereof). there are many motor-racing categories where someone that starts dominating gets a weight penalty. why not have the same thing apply here? penalties can include: lower fuel allowance, higher minimum weight, fewer tire options, lower RPM limits, even lower fuel-flow rates, etc.

WSBK » FIM issues Bimota homologation statement

i think some sort of adjustment factor should be available to support small marques such as bimota. perhaps use a "total unit production for all models" to establish a large-scale manufacturer to which the current wsbk thresholds apply. likewise much smaller production overall production numbers would identify the smaller firms and there would be a much lower threshold for wsbk entry.
