MotoGP » Valentino Rossi's replacement announced

Dorna contract the teams to supply a certain number of riders to fil the grid, to pull in the crowds (Silverstone was a quiet place without Rossi). Yamaha needed to field a rider that isn't pursuing his own racing career - getting some data and feedback's a bonus. Virtually everything that's been said is correct, but are only sub-plots. Except for the silly anti-British riders comments...

MotoGP » Dovizioso season-best second, 'victory soon'

Blimey, RawNerve... Ducati put an American on their bike for the same reason that Honda put a Spaniard on theirs - local sales. MotoGP and WSBK represent and perform to the world. Maybe the fact that there a few Americans in either series shows how unlikely American riders fans have need to look past their domestic series... ...despite MotoGP and WSBK being arguably better?
