I liked it when SpeedTV's Peter Windsor interviewed Lewis after his retirement and told him that it was his first retirement for mechanical reasons. Lewis replied "then I can't complain, really, and that's why I'm smiling"...

Whatever you think about the guy, he's having fun, and isn't it what really matters?

Rich, I do remember him racing at Le Mans, but you can't really compare Endurance racing overtaking and Formula One overtaking. Well, actually, I was gonna say that one works more with pit stop overtaking than the other, but after all you might have a point. :-) In any case, I would love to see Loeb in F1. I also would love for our other Seb (Bourdais) to stay in F1, but I'm afraid we won't see either. :-/

Agree with brendan... I would have never known he was 34... As for him joining the F1 circus, we all seem to forget that the guy can drive quick, but has NO experience of passing people and racing... The only overtaking he's done have been on cars that were broken and therefore had lost the 2 minutes (or is it 1) gap they started the SS with. I'm not saying he couldnt - actually, as a Frenchman, I would LOVE to see that - but it wouldn't be a walk in the park!

Steve, I can totally see a Raikkonen comeback. I think he's feeling the pressure from Alonso and Santander, so he'll have to win the WDC or lose his seat. That said, Alonso 2nd in the Renault? You're kidding, right? The engine hasn't been developed for 18 months before Briatore woke up, and he's also been complaining about KERS costing too much, etc. I don't think Renault F1 has the ability to deliver a good car next year. As a Frenchman, I hope I'm wrong, but... Hamilton will be 1st or 2nd, but will score better than Massa. Most overrated driver ever, if you ask me. The guy can't pass! :-) Vettel is da ball, but will the RB5 be up to par?

Yeah, I'm afraid Gerhard was Bourdais' last chance to stay in F1. Too bad...

Although I do agree that Bourdais should stay, I think Berger was his biggest supporter in the team, and I now think we're gonna end up with Taku and Buemi. :-( Red Bull can not be sold in France, so Herr Dietrich is not a great fan of French drivers. Hell, even Renault won't give a chance to a French driver, so...

- Raikkonen retired (with a rumored $43M payoff from Santander) Not sure IF this is true, but I would LOVE to see this happening as: 1/ it would be awesome for Bourdais 2/ Renault would FINALLY promote French drivers (don't wanna sound chauvinistic here, but we've got more good drivers than the last few years in F1 would lead one to believe) 3/ it would be great to see Alonso in red battle against Lewis in silver. I'm a big fan of Lewis, and I don't really care for Alonso's arrogance much, but that would be quite a battle, you have to admit 4/ it wouldn't be that bad for Kimi, who's clearly shown motivation issues this year 5/ it would show Massa for who he is: a totally overrated driver.

I agree. Bourdais has finally come up to speed and could be right up there given the right car. Not sure about his ability to set up the car yet, but again, he's a rookie in F1. Also, and please take this with a grain of salt as I read it in the comments section of the French Yahoo! Formula One site, it seems that Bourdais will go to Renault. The guy that left this comment seemed to be a Renault F1 employee (another guy on the forum who apparently knows the team asked him to name Pat Symond's assistant and to describe her, and he seemed to have the right answer). Anyway, that guy said: - Bourdais at Renault - Grosjean (from GP2) at Renault - Alonso to Ferrari (at Santander's request)

Looks to me like Kubica spends too much time with Alonso. I wonder what they talk about during their poker games... Alonso would certainly not badmouth Hamilton there, right? Not that Kubica could be brainwashed by his Spanish poker friend, right? I really like Kubica, but this is disappointing. I like my drivers to spend more time driving (and overtaking if possible, even if it is aggressive) than talking. And speaking about aggressive overtaking, I thought Massa's pass on Webber cutting over the pit exit was extremely aggressive, but you know what? I thought it took a lot of balls and he's got my respect for that. I'm still pissed about Bourdais' penalty though. :-(

rich ard, you're actually wrong. TooGood2Tell has it right. The FIA wanted the one tire manufacturer, not Michelin, not the teams (and especially not the Michelin teams who knew they would have the hardest time adapting to the Bridgestones). Micheline didn't bother to tender, because the "one manufacturer rule" was basically done to get rid of them. The FIA then decided to move the WRC to a one tire provider show as well. Michelin did submit tender (for their BF Goodrich arm), but was shunned despite providing every car at the time. Even the Subarus had switched to BFGoodrich tires that year, abandoning Pirelli. Despite that, the contract was given to Pirelli. Do SOME reading first! :-)
