MotoGP » Date set for Rossi to Yamaha announcement?

I am a proud Rossi fan but not because I am blinded, I posted yesterday that no one but Rossi has defended a GP title since 1998, then I delved a little deeper and discovered that he is the only rider to defend an International title since 1999, the World Supers, and that was Fogerty in World supers, give me a hero I can admire because of what they have achieved. As a Kiwi I am obviously a fan of Kim Newcombe, Graeme Crosby, Aaron Slight, Simon Crafar Andrew Stroud etal but, Mr Rossi has achieved the status of a great and history both does and will reflect this for all time, I expect Hailwood had his haters, success does attract the negative. For those of us who have watched this sport for a long time, we have seen quality performances from Rossi many times. Ducati failed him, he did not fail them, his team do not make the bike, they fine tune it. For the poster who said we should stop focussing on the fact that Honda had a new bike and Ducati couldn't turn up with the promised improve

MotoGP » Who’s on the up in MotoGP 2012?

Yes Bob he is, the only rider in the 4 stroke era to have successfully defended a title, and the only rider since Doohan... Also the only rider to have won back to back on 2 different makes of motorcycle and only the 3rd rider in history to win GP's in 3 different classes, the other 2 being The Great Mike Hailwood and The Great Phil Read, awesome company to share honours with!!! From here though, his unique achievements are pulled sharply into focus, his top class wins include 3 different capacities, 2 differently stroked engine types, and 3 different engine formats, V4, V5 and inline 4(big bang), historically unequalled, he is undoubtedly the greatestest of all time for those of us who can remember more than 2 years. Disagree all you like but please do so with facts that contradict mine, not because you are a hater...

MotoGP » Valentino Rossi talks tenth place start

On a Yamaha or Honda, he could probably podium the thing pretty often (esp after Stoner leaves), win the odd race, but a tile, doubt it Yeah good on ya Terv, as for claims he took the yamaha dog and won not only the 2004 title, but... they listened to him and created a completely different bike for 2004 and they did it in a few months, 2 years of Ducati arrogance has netted them 2 podiums, I wonder if there some kind of pattern emerging here...

Ducati should take a 2/3rds of that and pay off some Yamaha/Honda engineers to come in house and show Ducati how its done. I think Ducati+Vale could be very good if two things happen, No they should find that sum again (not deduct it from Rossi), publicly admit that they have ignored many riders and team bosses GOOD advice (not just Rossi and Burgess), publicly apologise for the fact that their only championship was won on completely different technology than what they have been developing for many seasons, then listen to team Rossi and win their 2nd title, after all, why sign a multiple champion and then ignore what his team says? pure arrogance and stupidity Ducati...

WSBK » BMW restructures, slims to one team for 2013

I'm not a Biaggi fan but i will be hoping he takes the title and denies Melandri. Some might call my comments sour grapes but it stinks at BMW. What's that load of garbage about? Biaggi is a short, spoilt brat and triple worth the crap thrown at Rossi by stoner fans refavouritism, I wish every success on Melandri regardless of who he rides for, yes I know BMW and pig riders don't acknowledge the rest of us on the roads, if you ride a harley you probably aren't game to take one hand of the bars to wave at another rider & if on a bmw your head is already dealing with being deeply in a dark smelly place so you probably hadn't noticed... BUT to wish Biaggi success just because you hate the thing Melandri (the best thing to have happened in WSBK in ages) happens to be sitting on is just not acceptable, but maybe you ride a bmw...

MotoGP » Valentino Rossi, Marlboro and Yamaha

As a Pom, I still have to agree with my Australian friend myke. WTF? who said I was Australian? I am a KIWI, very proud of being a KIWI and I take great exception to being labelled as a dribbler from over the ditch, take it back I say!!! Oh and as for the triple thing I ride a '76 Laverda triple and I wish there were a few 3 cylinder bikes at this level of the sport, they just sound better...

that's what I'm afraid of... :( so sad ..... I hear you Bro, I was really hoping that good would come of Rossi's time at Ducati, also like a few others I thought he had enough clout to not have to rely on the tobacco industry but seeing him constantly finish mid pack is really disappointing, I find WSBK to be better entertainment, it's like every MotoGP is just a replay of Valencia 2006....

When he wins with ducati... the world will smile again.. @ Goo.. Rossi, I agree that that would be the end result but I am reminded of the fact that a prophet is not recognised in his own town, and for Rossi I think that town is Italy, as another poster stated they have definitely had enough time to sort that bike but have dragged their heels. The Japanese changed the game for ever by listening to the bike buying public and being happy to change what ever was broken, Ducati have been as stiff necked as the Poms of the '60's and 70's and won't accept their whole approach is wrong, do what you need to Vale, I support you what ever happens next...
