MotoGP » Bautista reaches sixth from poor qualifying

Bautista and the Suzuki are doing great things, but I suspect this is partly down to the engine rule... 9 engines possibly allows a higher rev ceiling in the race, where other teams are conservative. In qualifying (when all the teams have the engines turned up) he finishes further back. I know fuel is the absolute limiter, but surely this could be feasible?

MotoGP » Toni Elias completes WSBK test

Cpwmonkey, I agree completely. No-one said it was easy but it shows the class of some riders to be able to get on a bike and be instantly fast. Actually, be instantly on the pace of the bike is more accurate (before people talk about the death warrant of the Ducati MotoGP 800cc bike and Melandri, Rossi, Capirossi, etc etc)

MotoGP » Pedrosa ‘feeling better every day’

What rubbish! Former world champion, one of the youngest ever winners of both a GP and world championship, and has won GP's every year since his debut in 2006- that was 2 wins on the 990 in his first year!!! He's finished 2nd twice and 3rd twice at the end of the season, and has suffered plenty of bad luck out of his control- including his throttle sticking open last year. Stoner would've flipped but Dani took it on the chin. The guy is super talented and does not deserve the flack people on this forum give him. He is a class act truly deserving of his 'alien' status.

WSBK » ParkinGO boss wants Yamaha WSBK role

Roadrunner, my understanding is that they are the same bike. Just because you change the rear shock and fork internals (it's WSS remember) doesn't make it a 'new' bike. If so then my K5 GSXR 1000 would become brand new with an Ohlins fork kit and rear shock! Like 99% of people on here, I don't know any of this for myself- it's just what I hear/read/ am told. Eurosport said it's the 2009 bike taken out of the crate, given a dust down, a refresh and a few new parts. I'm going with them on this one.

WSBK » ParkinGO boss wants Yamaha WSBK role

I think the bike has a lot to do with their success this year... Remember that this is the 2009 R6 which won Supersport with cal Crutchlow aboard, and that Yamaha admitted they couldn't afford to run in 2010 as they'd spent so much money on it! In 09 Yamaha won the lot: WSBK, WSS, BSB and of course MotoGP. They wanted it badly. I think the ex-factory R6 is the quickest bike out there and that the same riders on the notoriously difficult R1 could have problems...

MotoGP » Bautista gains a swing arm, loses an engine

My understanding is that Suzuki Japan are definitely out of MotoGP next year, but Paul Denning is hoping to demonstrate that even if they don't have a factory team, someone (him) should be able to lease the bikes if they can attract funding. Not sure where I read this, and I certainly don't have inside knowledge, but does anyone out there know how likely this is?

MotoGP » 'Wow!' Elena Myers rides Suzuki MotoGP bike at Indy

Unless I've missed this, has anybody mentioned Cameron Donald to put this in perspective? Yes she's talented, yes she's fast, yes she's American and very pretty, but... ..hundreds of people could've done what she did yesterday. Billions couldn't, but hundreds could. Cam Donald could hit 200mph on the TT course but I don't hear anybody calling for him to get a wildcard! Very pretty girl and best of luck to her, but MotoGP rides should be earned, not gifted.

MotoGP » Hayden 'excited' about 1000cc era

Does anybody really think the 1000cc limit will change anything? 800's have upwards of 215bhp- 500 2 strokes had, what, 180bhp? Moto2 has just 130bhp and that produces the best racing! It's not the engine size or power, it's the tyres and the electronics. Give the 800's a set of Supercorsa's, unlimited fuel, and turn off the TC, then you'll plenty of sliding bikes and smoking tyres... Can't help thinking 2012 will be more of the same.
