Well I'm glad I've got in early on this thread B4 the unfortunatly predictable "I hate stoner - well i hate rossi" brigade start.
I cant wait to see Stoner back and i hope he's back up to speed real fast (which I think he will be). The more fast guys we have at the front the better. Its been pretty cool watching Lorenzo and Rossi go head to head and it'll just be better still with Stoner in there. Like him or not, he's got the speed to race the Yamaha's.
I saw someone on another site call Stoner "Tiny Tears" the other day. How funny is that? Although u may need to be English to know what tiny tears was. But it made me laugh anyway.
Looking forward to Friday. 4 weeks off is too long.

Kneedragon - you've pretty much summed things up there. The problem is that this IS prototype racing and the manufacturers want to develop these systems. It is partly why they go racing in the 1st place. The other issue is "the show". Sponsors (who pay for most of this) dont want riders being airlifted off to hospital from trackside with their company logo all over them (as this, for them is purely advertising). And as has been said loads here, rider aids are the issue, not cc. As rawdawg said 800's put out more hp (and torque) than the 500's used to so there is no getting away from the fact that its the electronics that make the difference and they will still be there if we go back to 990.

I may open myself up to a bit of sh1t here but I'm really starting to like this kid.He had the worst pre season and hurt himself pretty bad- the bike Honda developed (or didn't) looked grim first half of year (and not much better the second) but he just keeps his head down, doesnt constantly crave the media attention that a few others do and just races hard (his ride at Indy for example)Him and Stoner are the only people who can ride with the Yams and he doesn't make a ton of excuses - usually just says "the Yamahas were too fast for me today".He's always limping around injured but rarely mentions it and he's only 3ft tall.I'd love Honda to build him a real competitive bike. There I said it.

I guess we'll see the real level this guy is at now. He was always way over his head in MotoGP but this might be the perfect place for him. With Ducati promoting him to their sat squad last year, you can only assume that he has some real ability when it comes to deveopment so a good move i'd say. Hope he does well - in fact the more I look at it the more excited about Moto2 i'm getting. Could be a great class. Man, 5 months is too long to not race.

Pass the mug - The truth is (although i think Spies would have taken the title on pretty much any factory bike) There is nothing wrong with the R1. Its won SBK titles all over the place this year. JT and CC were both real quick on it first time out. Sykes isnt quick enough to run with the front guys - that and the fact that he had to compete with Spies as his benchmark is why he was as far behind as he was. Dont get me wrong - I like Tom but I was quite surprised when Yamaha signed him in the first place.

U know I was just looking at the pic above and thinking the same thing. But at the same time I think this guy has IT. And I reckon along with some huge accidents are gonna come some moments of real speed - enough to run with the guys at the front.

Oh and to actually stick to the point I can only see Marco (of the 250 guys) with the real raw talent to get near the front.

Man - whats the problem? Why would Crash put a poll on here asking who the fastest rookie is gonna be next year? We all have a good idea who that is gonna be. But the 4 250 riders are all in the same boat. None have ever turned a wheel on a MotoGP bike till this test and are gonna be compared to each other all season long. You guys don't have to take every thing as a personal attack on Spies. Oh And RawDawg - I think its fair to say that when it comes to riding 800's the results do weigh pretty heavy on the side of the 250 guys (although i'd love nothing more than to see a SBK guy stick it to them).

You gotta remember that the 250 guys are riding MotoGP bikes for the first time. 1.9 off Stoner (especialy when u think he's been ripping round the track for 5 days now) is good enough for the first crack at it.

Erm.....does anyone want to talk about the test times? Or should we argue about Hayden and his title win some more (I forget how this even started now).
