F1 » No party as Alonso claims first point

The Honda PU is clearly a POS but that said McLaren have had the best engine in 2013 and particularly 2014 as well and if I'm not mistaken they were 5th in the championship on both those occassions and battling Force India till the last race for it. In other words they've built a bit of a mid field chassis at most for the last two years so why it would be any better now I don't know. Couple it to the worst PU on the grid and there you end up with the nightmare season they're having now. The big talk from Ron is just that...big talk.

F1 » 'Gutted' Rosberg left deflated by missed opportunity

Completely agree with those above saying Rosberg was way too focussed on beating Hamilton today while he should have just gone and won the race...The worst part was when he was on the radio with his team who informed him Lewis was behind and would pit sooner and go to the harder tyres and he demanded he'd have the hard tyres too then. For a driver supposedly trying to get an edge by thinking things through he completely lost the plot there and a clearer indication that he was just looking at one man today couldn't be given. Utimately the team now says it was at that point their call to put Rosberg on the harder tyre and had it been one lap later they would have put him on softs but I'm not having it, Nico requested those tyres and they threw their strategy completely overboard to cover off Lewis. And then you see people flying on the softs at the end and he clashes with Ric. For the championship I'd have liked to see him take the points but he kinda got what he deserved today.

F1 » Exasperated Ricciardo ‘banging head against the wall’

Tbh it's probably just a bit of a bogey track for Ricciardo. Even last year when he did win he was outqualified by Vettel at this track (despite winning the qualy duel over the year) and ran behind Vettel for most of the race until Vettel ran into traffic and Ricciardo more or less lucked into the better strategy to jump him in the pits. Still it's good on Kvyat to get the better of his teammate this race, he'll have to do so at least a couple of times this season to stay there with Max and Carlos breathing in his neck and so far so good.

F1 » Sauber retains Nasr, Ericsson for F1 2016

They'll use the money these guys pay in advance to build next year's car then sign 2 other drivers to take the seats come raceday in Melbourne next year :D It's actually pretty sad though that a team like this that was really well respected in the past has now come to this level. I think they arguably have the worst drivers on the grid, maybe with the exception of Marussia. I know Nasr gets pretty good ratings so far but I think it's more Ericsson making him look good than him actually being good. The fact that some weekends Ericsson is suddenly quite a bit quicker tha Nasr says it all IMO. Even in junior formulae Nasr was also quite consistent but not necessarily fast. Same old story of money over talent then. Can't really blame the drivers for taking their chance but again, pretty sad that this is the story from approximately P9 to P20 of the grid.

F1 » Button hints at options beyond McLaren

ProfessorDave: ... With the exception of Schuey, in the past eighteen years no driver over the age of 33 has won an F1 World Championship . (Anyone who clicks disagree doesn't know the facts!)
Hamilton and Rosberg are both 30 years old now. If they both happened to be 33 or 34, one of them would still be winning the championship this year.

F1 » Verstappen: Toro Rosso best handling car after Mercedes

Taz: Oh well, since Hungary suits a good handling car he should finish 3rd or 4th then :)
I wouldn't be completely surprised if they did manage that. Ok 3rd or 4th is pretty ambitious, but Hungary is a circuit that should suit the car well, Max was well into the top 10 in the Monaco race too till the bad pitstop. One thing I'm wondering about though if is there migth be something wrong with Max' chassis. It didn't make sense for himm to easily be faster than Sainz all through FT1, FT2 and FT3 and then be half a second off or so in quali, plus then to drop it weirdly under full throttle in the race.

F1 » Raikkonen’s Ferrari future to be decided by Marchionne

Well if this is the case I don't see him staying on. Marchionne is not one for sentimental decisions. I too hope the next man for the seat will be Hulk and not Bottas. Bottas is the next overrated finn. Not as overrated as Kovalainen but still overrated. Seems like because the ratio of finns that done well in F1 out of the total amount of finns in F1 is so high everyone wants to think the next fin is the next big thing... If Marchionne is influenced by sponsors (sad day that would be but if you look at how he tries to run FCA on a shoestring budget it's not too much of a stretch to think he might) then I hope at least Carlos will be intelligent enough to make sure Perez is in the car and not Guttierez, who was the 2nd worst driver on the grid behind Max Chilton last year.
