F1 » Hamilton credits Senna for driving style

I don't particularly like Lewis but also don't hate on him like many on here...however I don't get this constant need to be looked at as the new Senna. Especially now he's no longer required to be the McLaren robot, he needs to relax, just give up already and be Lewis Hamilton for a change instead of almost weirdly trying to be Senna or some wannabe R&B 'thug' etc.

F1 » Maldonado targeting top five in Spain

"after an impressive step forward in China" Really? Ok so Grosjean ran at the tailend of the top 10 for a bit...before he retired cause of another technical issue and Maldonado who was apparently running an older spec engine actually finished the race somewhere way behind the points scorers. Sad state of affairs if we have to hail that a big step forward for a team who managed to win two races on merit in the last 2 years. @FlyingICEMAN Not to be a jackass, but so far Kimi hasn't really ran in the top 5 yet this year so he should be fine. Don't get me wrong I do hope he does manage to pick up the pace and take the fight to FA but you'd have to say so far his performance has not been all that awesome.

F1 » Williams increases income by 25%

Wow Williams really hit the jackpot with Maldonado didn't they. Gave them a win, drove a crappy car for the best part of three years and then gave them enough money to finally make a halfway decent car again for the first time in almost a decade that Pastor himself is not in... Pastor on the other hand, the frustration must be immense paying all that cash, switching teams for even more cash and find himself in a crappy car again with the car he could be in for less coin miles in front. If Lotus don't make a miraculous recovery surely the frustration is going to boil over this year in an epic way.

F1 » Montoya not excited by F1

Like JPM says the nature of F1 is that it tends to lead to a dominant car for a certain period at a time and the drivers compete more indirectly to be in that car than directly on track and to be there it takes a set of skills beyond just driving fast. To me this and all the bleeding edge technical stuff makes it interesting and I'm content looking at 10 odd boring races per year to see a few good ones. F1 is not just a driver competition, or at least not exclusively...it never was and never should be.

F1 » de Silvestro gets first Sauber test

Hate to be a downer, but she's not going to be quick enough. Granted we've seen in the past that being quick in F1 and being quick in IndyCar aren't necessarily transferable skills both ways so in theory she could still be quicker in F1 than she is in IndyCar, but realistically, if Sato wins a bunch of races over there in a midfield team and she 'gets a 3rd'...it's not enough. It would have to be by some miracle that she's somehow quick in the F1 car. We'll have to wait for Beitske to improve in WSBR, she definitely has the racecraft judging by the Monza race but she needs to find a bit more pace as well.

F1 » de Silvestro gets first Sauber test

JJJ: Hate to be....
I find your comment interesting in the fact she has never had winning race car to drive. In fact I think the last car was called Piggy or something like that. We won't know if she has the pace until she gets time in a 2014 F-1 car will we.
Apparently she was teammates with Tony Kanaan last year and I vaguely recall he won one of the races. He also had 3 more podiums. Of course we wont know for sure till she gets in the car, but like Mark Webber once said, F1 isn't a finishing school.

F1 » Montezemolo rings changes at Ferrari

I agree that if anyone is to be held responsible and has to go it's Luca. Stefano has now been offered up as the sacrificial lamb and replaced by another guy appointed by Luca, so surely if it doesn't translate in results once again (and I'm pessimistic about that) it's about time that Luca takes the blame himself for once. After all he also is a manager, not a team owner. If Ron wants to come back and take the reigns and make a bunch of questionable decisions that's ok cause it's (partly) his team and when it all comes crashing down ultimately he can't run away from the resposnsibility, simply because if the team goes down it's his grave. Luca OTOH...1975 is a long time ago.

F1 » Rossi gets Canada and US practice runs

Meh...he's good but not great judging by his GP2 and WSBR performances. He still could be a decent choice for Gene if Gene gets his team off the ground, but mostly cause the drivers won't be the limiting performance factors anyway. It's kinda like Chilton and Marussia, yes Chilton often runs around a second off of Bianchi's pace but when you're already the slowest team on the grid who cares...Just bring the money, bring the car home, don't do any damage and hope more than 10 guys retire including the Caterhams. That's pretty much their strategy with him. Rossi is more than capable to fullfill the same role for Gene...If he can bring the money that is.

F1 » Raikkonen: ‘F**k all to do with motivation’

rob01: At least he is being paid now.
not doing a very good job tho,
compared to who?
Alonso
Ah . . . compared to the most complete driver on the grid, are there any drivers on the grid who would do a better job?
The usual hater suspects won't like me saying this and I'm not even a fan myself but facts are there's actually a man on the grid who beat/equalled FA in the final standings when they were teammates. Little known fact is he was the 2nd man to do so after Tarso Marques did it in 2001 courtesy of 2 9th places in Brazil and Canada :D
