F1 » Haas: We can beat the Europeans

@Fosco333 That's because these drivers have to make fools out of themselves publicly every weekend by saying things like "The xxx insurance Haas automation cheerios car ran really well today and these Goodyear tyres are really something aren't they, none of them even blew up today. I also like to thank sponsor s, t, u, v, w, x, y AND z AND their grandmothers for supporting us...Wewhee for a minute there I thought we were too far back at the end but luckily a yellow could be waived 2 laps from the end for 'debris on track' after some rascal threw a bunch of those delicious M&M's on the track, which negated the first 200 odd laps and gave me a chance to overtake the Bass pro shops furniture emporium car for the win. This will be a nice boost mobile for the boys in the team and I look forward to the cheddar cheese coca cola kentucky 600 next week"

F1 » Massa frustrated by luck at Williams

True...but I also think Massa shaking his head wasn't helping at all. You can call it latin temperament but also considering his radio messages this year, he needs to relax in that car a bit. He probably drives around with a bit of a chip on his shoulder trying to prove a point after years of less than great results at Ferrari, but pacewise he's actually doing fine compared to Bottas. I also understand there is a bit of pressure on the Williams drivers knowing they've got a good car for the moment and not sure how long that competitive edge will last, but if he just stops trying to force the issue maybe they can actually get a podium or two before everyone else catches up.

F1 » Horner plays down Vettel ‘team orders’ issue

Nikeros: I just love it when Karma bites the arrogant. What goes around comes around, Sebby (though you weren't lapped - what a pity). Only Mark Webber is laughing more than I am on this momentous occasion when justice smiled on Shanghai. Better 'luck' next time honey.
It's a bit of a mixed bag for Mark though, isn't it...He might not dislike the fact that Sebby is now experiencing the other side of the coin but at the same time the guy that beat him quite convincingly over the last few years is getting his backside handed to him by someone who wasn't exactly considered to be the next ultimate awesome. He can't laugh too hard, cause in comparison what does this say about him...

F1 » Vettel: Daniel is doing a very good job

"He has not just had one good weekend but good weekends." And...there you have the direct comparison with MW after all. There were a couple occassions where Mark strung a perfect weekend together and was able to match Vettel, although last year this occurence became too rare. I'm sure Vettel is still brimming with confidence after 4 WDCs and of course the man is set for life financially so that's no consideration, but as a competitor he must be scratching his head at DR's performance and at some point the thought 'so will this be what it's going to be like' will enter his mind. He's pretty cool about it so far but we've seen the harsher side of his personality a couple times before so it'll be interesting to watch how he reacts when DR passes him for the lead, denying team orders and stating: "I was faster than him, I passed him, he didn't deserve to win...end of story"

F1 » Button: This is the strongest field

A lot of these kinds of statements are at least in part designed to indirectly talk up the driver's own individual performance. Look at how casually Jenson implies that he's among the group of 'immensely talented drivers' (mind you I'm not necessarily saying he isn't). And of course now it takes more talent to win than in the past cause all the other drivers are more talented...right? In the recent past we've had FA and Hamilton blowing smoke up each other's backside...coincidentally when teammates they got the exact same number of points (and wins IIRC) so really if they're saying how good the other one is it's the most direct way to indirectly say how good they are themselves :D Que Vergne accentuating some more how happy he is that DR is doing well. Well of course he is...if Vettel would have made DR look decidedly average that would pretty much have been the end of Vergne's F1 carreer. Now though, he's the guy that was pretty close to DR...just like the 4 times champ.

F1 » Mercedes calling for increased Red Bull sanction

Forget about testgate, RBR have done everything they possibly can politically to refuse their competitors any advantage no matter how small. For instance they denied a request by Sauber last year to trade test days for more time allowed in their windtunnel before than making the argument how extremely big the advantage was Mercedes gaines by the...extra test days. They shouldn't be at all surprised the other teams aren't standing in line to cut them some slack now and nor should their supporters. You reap what...
