F1 » Hamilton: My hunger is different to Rosberg’s

He needs to stop this incessant hunger 'to be perceived as' a great driver or rather the new Senna. It's ok to aspire to actually be a great driver but the public will in the end (despite the h8ers and fanb0iZ) judge one by results and conduct. Nothing is to be gained by talking about that you want people to look at you in a favourable way, nor should it bother you THAT much, much less let it define you. There's some weird psychological stuff going on there.

F1 » Hamilton: My hunger is different to Rosberg’s

Wasn't his father a manager of some sort making a good 6 figures a year? Maybe his family wasn't as rich as some of these other drivers' families, many of whom come from serious family fortunes, but there are no kids from the favelas in F1...To be able to afford your kids to go karting at a competitive level you need to make some decent coin. The chip on his shoulder probably comes from something else. Perhaps the constant hate he gets since forever, but either way he's not making it easier on himself with comments like these.

F1 » Alonso fastest in disjointed FP2

Vergne was again pretty good out there. It's a bit strange how he's always quite fast around some tracks especially if there is low grip or changeable conditions but apparently can't translate into being as quick at the bread-and-butter tracks in sunny conditions. I wonder how his carreer will work out, could be the new Button if he got the chances but the hype machine is already behind Kvyat (even on bwin you got a bigger payoff on Vergne compared to Kvyat, which IMO was rediculous at this track in particular but hey...). It's clear that he can't really thump Kvyat all year like the team probably expected of him so actually I think he'll follow Buemi, Algy, Liuzzi, Speed and Bourdais out of F1 at the end of this year or the next...

F1 » Maldonado shrugs off sponsorship rumours

I think Pastor really has no clue whether or not the tap is about to be closed. Still, judging by Williams' financial report at least they got all their money so it'd be another tough break for Lotus if it falls through now. Remember how early last year they were genuinely close to signing Honeywell as a title sponsor...Feel's like ages ago. Just one more example to show what a fickle business F1 is, one decision that falls your way and you're golden, one decision the other way and you're signing Pastor Maldonado pinning the team's future hopes on crooked Venezuelan politicians coming through with the money.

F1 » Vettel eyes Monaco as chance to beat Mercedes

Well, the RBR will probably be ok there, but realistically they'll still be on for 3rd and 4th at maximum. Neither Daniel nor Sebby have shown particular skill at the track so who knows who comes out the winner of the inter team battle...however I don't predict a Senna 1992 where one of them beats the dominant Williams after they won the first five races. And before the fanb0iZ be hatin': I just looked up Vettel's qualy record at Monaco to confirm my impression that he isn't particularly good there and he's 3:3 against his teammates, including getting outqualified by the one and only Sebastien Bourdais in 2008. Also 1 fortuitous win around the place for 4 championships in at least 2,5 vastly dominant cars is a poor Monaco win ratio IMO. Daniel was 1:1 vs Vergne in qualy and retired twice in the race so that's nothing to write home about either.

F1 » van der Garde to Goodwood Revival

I understand why he didn't want to bring another bunch of millions to drive around at the back for another year at Caterham, but sadly apparently a Sauber 3rd driver seat was the 'best' alternative. And then the car turns out to be an absolute dog at that... Shame really, I thought he did well enough last year especially towards the end to have a shot at a half decent seat somehow (at Williams for instance with the McGregor connection) but seems like it's over now and he'll have the typical carreer for a Dutch guy in F1....sigh. Hopefully some team out there will finally give Frijns a car he deserves instead of promoting guys with less stellar CVs just because they bring more coin (all the teams from the last 2/3s of the grid) or have been part of a particular development program (I'm looking at you, Red Bull, McLaren, Mercedes via FI and Ferrari via Marussia).

F1 » Horner: Vettel has his mojo back

Now people are saying Sebby has a shot at monaco...I'm not buying it. The Mercs will still be good there and Seb never really was exceptional at Monaco...yes he won it once with a bit of luck as the red flag allowed him to switch his aging tyres that would have left him a sitting duck otherwise but even Mark was usually better there. As for Hamilton wanting more competition, genuine or not it may actually help him cause if Rosberg is going to win this championship it's by consistency. Hamilton is probably going to win more races but he is also prone to doing something stupid or break the car and score a big ol' doughnut in a few races every year, while Rosberg will just cruise to finish in 2nd every race he can't win...unless all of a sudden there are two energy drinks in his way. looking forward to Monty, even if odds are it'll be a snoozer with whatever silver car p1 at corner 1 in front and the other behind and not able to overtake even if it is quicker 'round the tortuous streets

F1 » Maldonado dreaming of Monaco podium

Well he kinda deserves the bad comments on his performance this year in particular and 'accident prone' style in general, but the thing with Maldonado is...if he does have his weekend he can suddenly get a crazy result. He is pretty quick around Monaco having won there in WSBR and GP2 plus the Renault engine should be at a decreased disadvantage there so who knows...Of course if both Mercs and both RBRs finish normally that'll be the first 4 places sorted but it is Monaco and stranger things have happened. It's actually a shame that he can't seem to get his attitude sorted cause the raw speed is there...I agree though that after 4 years of GP2 and 3 full years of F1 still making the judgement errors he's making should mean he's out of a seat but of course the cash makes him almost untouchable, which is probably part of the problem.
