They've been here before and bounced back, lets hope they do so again.

I'm not sure Wilson was ever given a 'second chance' or even 'fired' by Jaguar. He was drafted into Jaguar from Minardi mid season to replace Pizzonia. At the end of that year (his first season) he lost the drive as Jaguar needed a pay driver and Wilson didn't have the cash (remember his bizzare investment scheme?). In went Christian Klien with Red Bull backing. The point is, a single season isn't really enough to tell who has it and who doesn't. Maldonado could easily have been written off last year, but his GP2 years tell us he takes a while to get there.

I couldn't agree more. I'd much rather listen to "little 'un" than Damon Hill.

Forgetting the off track issues and looking at it from a purely sporting POV, I'm glad they went as it taught us you COULD have a good race in Bahrain, and they don't all have to be like the previous snorefests we had there.

OK, I stand corrected. I had assumed there was a manual overide to anything automated, but I believe the Ferrari system also had this, but it was no use when Massa dragged half his fuel rig down the Singapore pit lane.

Yes RMedia, you're right about human error. But this wasn't human error - it is an automated system without human input. The human intervention can only come after the car was released, which is what didn't appear to happen this time.

I didn't say they knew when they released him, but they released him unsafely when the front tyre man clearly hadn't finished his work. The team could have got him to stop, probably before the end of the pit lane, but instead they allowed him to rejoin the track without telling him. He had gone some distance before he pulled over of his own accord. As I said, the radio message that was broadcast suggested that he hadn't been told but rather decided for himself that something wasn't right.

I think the FIA had every reason to fine Mercedes much more, as the team were fully aware of the error, the team released the car despite the tyre change not having been safely completed, and from what it sounded like from the broadcast radio transmission, Schumacher only stopped once he realised there was a problem and not beacuase he was told to by the team. If his wheel had come off and bounced into the crowd and killed someone, who would have been blamed?

I think going to Ferrari would be a massive mistake for Perez. Moving from a car he is clearly comfortable with to a car acknowledged to be a dog will do him no favours. Look at how well it worked for Fisichella.

This vindicates the stewards decision last week not to let them race. They had done so little running in practice and quaifying the race would have been little more than some more testing time for them. They managed to get some good track time this weekend, so even if they hadn't quite made the 107% time, I reckon they may have got to race this time.
