MotoGP » Mugello MotoGP: Close moment for Crutchlow, Dovizioso

Of course Crutchlow would certainly have caught AND passed Pedrosa with another couple of laps. Over the last 5 laps he was lapping .5 - .8s a lap faster. As Dani himself admits, his front tyre was shot by that stage and he wouldn't have been able to hold on. From lap 19 onwards, all of Pedrosa's laps were in the 1.49's while Crutchlow's were all in the 1.48's, and over those laps he reduced a gap of over 4 seconds to under 1. #35 was also lapping marginally faster than Marquez just prior to his crash. Claiming that Crutchlow would never have passed Pedrosa simply flies in the face of all available race data, and contradicts what everybody could see happening on track.

MotoGP » Mugello MotoGP: Battered Smith braves it out for ninth

@50thR1 Yes, Tech 3 are looking to secure another 2-yr deal with Yamaha, and I think they soon will. Probably with hand-me-down factory kit again. As to rider line-up, it's massively complicated right now, as Yamaha want Espargaro in the team, Herve and Monster Energy want Cal in the team, and Bradley has a 2-yr deal ongoing. I don't know how it's all going to be resolved but I'd be very surprised if Smith isn't on an M1 prototype again next year. I think his contract and personal sponsors Monster Energy will see to that.

MotoGP » Mugello MotoGP: Crutchlow thrilled with 'awesome' podium

Yes, a gifted podium, as he admits himself, but a strong ride nonetheless, with consistently quick lap times. What Cal (and his crew) seem able to do this year is keep on finding setup solutions as the weekend goes on, whereas in past seasons they would tend to hit a brick wall in terms of progress. It's an important ability to have in order to be competitive at every event, and he seems to have cracked it now. If he can keep that up then more podiums must surely be on the cards.

MotoGP » Mugello: Smith will need skin graft, but 'can race'

A fracture to the scaphoid as well, I believe. And a damaged tendon. Bradley was lucky not to suffer worse injury being so close to the bike through the gravel trap. Pretty grisly sight to see his glove flapping away from his hand when he crawled away. You knew at that point he had to have lost a good bit of skin from his hand while trapped under the bike. A very unlucky and painful injury.
