MotoGP » 2014 MotoGP rider contracts

@birtie Nobody really. I used to help promote Ducati in the UK and have a few contacts here and there. Most of the info is recycled from other sources though, so it's not like it's always solid gold. For example, Nicky has just denied he's talking to Ducati about WSBK and says it's actually the BMW and Kawasaki teams that are interested. Nobody has the inside scoop on everything. Not even Carmelo!

@gorgeousgeorge Nicky is reportedly considering an offer to ride the Panigale in WSBK. Ducati need a successor to Checa. @HolyMoly Bradley has a 2-yr deal, but it can be bought out if necessary. Dorna is offering funds to assist in contractual matters. And Yamaha are bringing in Pol because they realise that in a few years the championship will probably be contested by the new kids on the block: Marquez, Espargaro, Redding. They're already looking to 2016 and beyond.

@ HolyMoly A 1-yr deal is already on the table for Cal to stay at Tech 3 if he wants it. That's what Yamaha, Monster Energy, Herve Poncharal and Dorna all want. If it happens then it'll be an Espargaro-Crutchlow team, and Bradley will be the casualty. However, I'll be amazed if Cal stays. I think Ducati will make him an offer he feels he can't refuse.

MotoGP » Crutchlow: I can’t wait to come back

@ Guna4699 You're right, Tech 3 and Yamaha have made a decision for next year, and that decision is that they want to keep #35. Lin Jarvis at Assen: "We are working with Tech 3 to try to keep Cal," Sponsors Monster Energy and Dorna/Ezpeleta also very much want him to stay with Yamaha. However, I think the Yamaha deal will be a factory contract and a pay hike, but NOT a factory bike (they've always been adamant they won't run more than 2). And that's why I think the most likely option right now is that Cal will sign with Ducati for 2014/2015.

WSS » Sam Lowes reveals WSBK, Moto2 interest

Good to year that Sam is planning to move on. He's too good to stay mired in the WSS class any longer and is capable of much more. I would be counselling a move to Moto2. It would have to be on competitive kit of course, but then his manager Neil Hodgson knows all too well the perils of stepping up without top flight machinery, so I'm sure he'll find a good ride for Sam if that's the path they take.
