Hopefully he'll get a drive in the IRC where it's more competitive, perhaps driving a Fiat. F1 will not be the same without you Kimi, now I don't have anyone I want to cheer for.

Anybody forget the former Fastest Indian in the World? Karthikeyan had the sponsorship dollars, but he showed that that couldn't keep him in F1 long. The last championship Karthikeyan won was Formula Asia in 1996. Chandok won one GP2 race in 2007 and one in 2008...he's currently 18th in the GP2 standings. He finished 10th last year, and 15th the year before. How is he F1 worthy?

With only Williams running KERS in 2010, I hope that the Zytek system and the upcoming Bosch system will be more widely used in Le Mans racing and eventually trickle to GT racing. This is where it can reach the broadest of championships and have the biggest impact.

rob01, I read in an interview with Robin Pemberton in AutoWeek that even though fuel injection's being developed, it may not be utilized on Sprint Cup cars for years to come and that the Nationwide cars may get it first but that's iffy as NASCAR has yet to decide whether it wants to introduce it or not.

I agree, but I hope that it will be in touring and GT cars instead of stock cars. If NASCAR can advance their cars from overhead valve to overhead cam, showcase more advanced transmissions than a 4-speed manual, introduce rack and pinion steering, and introduce fuel injection it could be a series that attracts more manufacturers to showcase current and future technologies. That way it will have publicity and development value.

Is it official that they are going to get the Lowe's Fernandez machines or perhaps an older car in the Patron or XM cars?

"By your own argument, location does not matter. TV broadcast time does. So GPs will go wherever there is a big TV market. Nothing else." No, my argument says in fact that location does indeed matter, but that since you said TV audience is the most important factor, then coverage times matter as well. You actually want to say that GPs go wherever there is a big TV market? Abu Dhabi has a larger TV market than the US, Russia, the UK, and India?

"Negative. If so, why would ING sponsor the Turkish GP, Hungary in 2008, and why does nobody want to sponsor a putative US GP? TV audience and target markets, nothing to do with nationality." ING sponsored the Turkish GP because it bought Oyak bank in 2007 for $2.3 Bil+ and has a major investment in that country as well as the fact that it could not become the primary sponsor of the English GP. Vodafone was the sponsor of the US GP before it was canceled off the calendar. Vodafone owns 45% of Verizon Wireless, one of the largest wireless companies in America.

Forza, My guess is that since VW has an S2000-spec car already and have been contemplating entry into the IRC, if they do indeed decide to compete, Skoda wouldn't get the funding so they may be cautious or are being told not to be VW.
