F1 » Abu Dhabi attempt cost Marussia £30,000

Who said that you couldn’t make a profit from F1 unless your name was BE?. Unlike Marrusia’s loss Caterham made a profit. Whilst Caterham was waiting creditors committee decision for approval to sell documents reveal that that the team made £75k profit from crowd funding, the plan raised £2.4m which allowed fans to buy team equipment and get their name on the cars, what fans got back amounted to £160,315. Kobayashi and Stevens provided £515,298, Caterham fuel bill in Abu Dhabi was £80k, plus travel/accommodation of £2577, team members were paid £2k each against what Marussia used to pay their team members (£2800 each).

F1 » Alonso the target if Hamilton leaves Mercedes F1

And now that the discussion has somehow more or less turned back on the subject proper, here is a warning to Lulu followers (are you reading Rob?) to brace themselves for a possible repeat of Lulu telling his present bosses to go swivel. Shortly after 2014 Belgian GP rumours stated doing the rounds that a meeting took place at Mercedes described as (could spell the end of Lulu tenure with the team), in the preceding weeks Rosberg signed a multi-year deal up to 2017, but plans were then put on hold in regards extending Lulu’s contract beyond 2015. At the time (5th September) the Guardian reported that those in Stuttgart weren’t happy with the level of remuneration they were paying Lulu and so any new deal would require Lulu to take a pay cut.

HRC: Just to add a couple of points of note. GDI is nothing more than an acronym for gasolene direct injection, Mercedes version of direct injection, and not really any different than any other form of common rail direct injection, which all F1 engines have to utilise from 2014 onwards. Turbosupercharger, an old word that's not used any longer, could we just stick with turbocharger and supercharger which gives a clear distinction between the two.
No arguments about CD. but don't trouble the Profs too much. “turbosupercharger” because it (the air compressor) is powered/driven by exhaust gasses as well as by an electric motor.

Rob, My personal opinion only, could be that last year was the year that we witnessed the last two mega drivers (pay) contracts (Vettel/Alonso. I wouldn’t count on the (Alonso to Mercedes) thing too much, I tend to give Bottas more of a chance, a bit more of (conflict of interest) will not hurt, that’s besides it will be (hitting three birds with one stone), a good commission on one side and a good pay rise on the other side plus a good saving for Mercedes.

ProfessorX:
107SS2009: Continued, And Mercedes known that the others will catch-up all along, what they managed to do was borrow some more time for 2015. Contrary to many believe Mercedes is the least experienced when it comes to F1 turbosupercharged engine out of the three on the grid (2014) and out of the four on the grid (2015).
I am afraid you are wrong Sunny, nobody will catch Mercedes, unless Honda is holding back, Because the rules are set, and Mercedes already have extra in the bag. Mercedes were not even running full out last year. In the end you have to look at F1 like fighter jets, and unfortunately Merc have the best reserves in terms of energy and the best potential in terms of out right ponies. Hence, Merc can run higher levels of down force and they have much greater latitude in terms of design. It's like watching everyone else have to carry 50kg of ballast. It's a no brainer, and Mercedes have GDI and a power plant that will prob

While having acknowledged on here that Mercedes produced the best package on the grid in 2014, I also explained that unlike the 2013 package where chassis and engine power were the two major items and that with the level of power differences back than the chassis could compensate for any lack of power, the 2014 package consisted of three major items, chassis, engine power and electric power, and that this third item have changed the goal posts, where no major item can compensate for any of the three being weak. I also stated many a time that Mercedes major advantage is in electric power, they seem to be able to use the maximum electric power for a longer period during a lap, and for lap after lap during the race, that will in turn gives them the best fuel advantage (use). Having said all that, I never had any doubt that being allowed to the others will catch-up with Mercedes. To be continued.
