MotoGP » Marquez: 'Reality' when Pedrosa, Lorenzo are fit

Wow Aussie we agree on something a great era that and having watched MotoGP since 49 the Rainey Spencer Doohan et al period was probably the greatest of the modern era though I think Doohan enjoyed an Ago like period during which he won all his WCs. Real Dave you beat me too it how two people in the same team on the same bike with the same control tire and then it is the control tire being used to disadvantage one. Especially as Casey was able to "ride around" problems. The fact is in 2012 Dani adapted better and Casey was shown to be mortal like everyone else. And TalentF I agree that in reducing no engines, fuel limits this only plays to the company with the deepest pockets and Honda is by market capitalisation almost 10 times bigger than Yam.

MotoGP » Official: Cal Crutchlow to Ducati MotoGP team

Aussie you have cleared up my conspiracy discussion nicely. I can tell you for a fact that Rossi when he settled the tax debt did not owe $60M and is now conservatively valued at $120M Euro. I think that is enough for him to walk away if it is was only money that kept him there. As for only Stoner could do. He was soundly beaten by his team mate who has never won a WC on equal machinery. in 2012 he would have done better than Rossi but would never have podiumed let alone won and probably had to take a sabbatical again due to the stress.

MotoGP » Official: Cal Crutchlow to Ducati MotoGP team

reinmacre also people forget that on the same Tech 3 Dovi eclipsed him fairly convincingly. So it is likely that the same will occur at Duc. And for those saying that there are funds in the wings give it up if Audi were really serious the funds would have started flowing by now. He took the money simple as that and good for him $5M Euros after two seasons pretty much sets up most people for life plus he could easily stretch that to 4 like Hayden. I feel sorry for Hayden, Dovi and anyone who rides that bike because despite what people say about Stoner but particularly 2012 he would not have won a race and/or got seriously injured in the attempt simply because the rest had moved on.

MotoGP » Ducati hoping to keep Hayden 'in the family'

The best comparator here is Dovi, who equally did nothing special at HRC but was looking pretty impressive on a Sat Yam then goes to Duc and is running around in 7th with him and Hayden fighting for the same posi each race. So it would suggest to me that if you put Hayden on the Sat Yam he would probably produce results similar to Dovi who I might add generally eclipsed Cal in the seasoon. I don't think given say a current RC213 he would regularly podium but he has been so long at Duc that it is hard to even guess how good he could be on decent kit. Also he still got paid millions so I am not too fussed either way.

MotoGP » Casey Stoner to test MotoGP Honda

I think he will come back to see why Dani in a head to head battle beat him to the point where he crashed on equal machinery. Or because he is getting bored of making the V8 drivers look ordinary winning each race. Or he is angry with all the close racing and wants a return to race etiquette and time trials. Or he is sad that despite being the greatest he never defended a wc. Hmm so many reasons...

MotoGP » Rossi: I must go faster if I want to fight for title

Guys I think you are reading to much into this as a few have highlighted he took a gamble on setup and got nailed the almost lose on the fourth lap was a sign and he settled for points. I also agree though that he has one eye on coming out of his career in reasonable shape something that does not seem to worry Cal! But he needs another win in LS if he wants to be a contender this year also the others are going down allot and as one has already said that is a v risky approach.

MotoGP » Rossi rides victory high to Sachsenring

Well said OT one criteria I place on a GOAT if there is one is longevity. Rossi has been there 15 years and still wins and against people 8 years + younger than him. Equally I would have to say that the field during during Rossi's tenure has been a lot more even than his nearest contender Ago who even on the mighty MV only started winning WCs the seasons after Hailwood left. My view is that if Rossi is max 5th or higher going into the first turn then psychologically he has it over the other three main contenders in terms of having a battle. Scream for me longbeach.
