MotoGP » Ducati set to kick-start post-Rossi era

As for Rossi walking away. How many times did Ducati promise parts only to delay by a considerable margin and then there was the debacle at testing where they didn't even have a replacement ECU suspending testing all togehter. Compare this then to Honda who brought multiple frames for Casey and Dani to try early to mid season due to a tyre switch which Dani then used to hand everyone else (inc Casey who can ride around anything) their rsays. Mate I don't know about you but I would have been on to Carmelo also. And it was not just money to my mind it was clear that Ducati felt they new best. If they had really wanted to change then they 5 year since their WC to do it. Also I think the brining in of a German to oversee design says much about Audi's confidence in Duc to right their own boat.

MD mate you have absolutely not evidence to suggest that persevering with the CF frame would have netted any advances they had 2 years with Casey and one with Rossi and under both it got worse and worse as the others wit their Alu frames marched on. Having a frame where the rear and front wheels are not connected via a frame to me always spells disaster As the capacity issue engineering confirms that for a given capacity more cylinders produces more power hence why an four will produce more than a twin and a V12 more than a 6 of the same capacity (all other things being equal). The limit should be set at 1000 and everybody brings their best game. Tradition is for suckers.

MotoGP » Rossi: Stoner 'started to hate me' after Laguna 2008

As for Stoner better on the Duc, overall he was able to ride the Duc better, but as shown, 10,6,4,3 (with 5 DNFs in final year). I still maintain extrapolated out and given the improvements of Honda especially this year (Pedro 7 wins most in his career), and they efforts to improve the bike that wins for Stoner would have been just as elusive. As for the testing you had a guy who had ridden the bike to one coming in cold. However I also think Rossi when "Effa diz, this bika fkd I no breaka anuda bone for Duca". And Duca cannot or will not revise their bike which is why Stoner left. As for stoner saying you shoulda seen the trellis well he would say that. a 40% drop in wins the following yr would indicate it was more than just stoner in 2007.

I think Rossi has been paid by Crash to make this comment coming into the looonnnggg offseason. As for Laguna I will always be convinced that Rossi knew the Duc had better acceleration and general grunt but poorer handling and went to frustrate Stoner's ability to use that trump card. I for one felt the corkscrew was a bit dodgy but it is line ball and as others have pointed out it was lap two and Stoner was right up him coming out of it. As was shown this year by Pedrosa no less, if you can stay with Stoner (not a mean feat) and pass him continually he has a tendency to lose it. The parallels are also intersting as he spat the dummy on both ocassions. Great rider, petulant and doesn't like handle bar to handle bar. I look on with great interest at his V8 Supercar debut (the paddock will have little tolerance for this attitude).

MotoGP » Marquez 'consistent and strong' as Sepang test ends

Look even if he has flashes of brilliance this year it will be good. As per Monza I don't think Rossi has lost it if anything he feels he has something to prove after 2 years at Duc and seeing the results of their test he must be happy with his decision. Equally he has come out in support of MM riding style (i.e. non-puszy)which will be a welcome change from Casey. I think it will be a cracker season, however I have said that the last two years (optimist).

MotoGP » Preziosi replaced in Ducati shake-up

People talk about Stoner being the only one capable of riding the Duc and that is true to an extent but I think his final year with 5 DNFs and 3 wins shows that Rossi was on a bike going backwards and that even under Stoner with the Yam and Honda making further major advances that wins even under Stoner would be unlikely particularly in 2012. Rossi tried to turn that ship around but with races being essentially testing on the fly he had no chance. Would Stoner have done better in 2012 on the Duc compared to Rossi possibly due in particularly to Rossi's reliance on a planted front. But I think the gap in terms of wins/podiums would not have been as great as people make out.

MotoGP » Marc Marquez on the pace in first MotoGP test

I am just happy he is here because he rides aggressively which will piss off the likes of Jorge and Casey if he had stayed. He also likes to battle. Reminds me of someone else. No more namby pamby I like to ride alone. The greatest battles this year were supplied by Pedrosa so I look to him next year as well. And as for Rossi a WC hmmm difficult but wins yes and already stated that he likes Marquez aggressive style. Either way next year looks to me more interesting than this and what's more no Casey, which can only be a positive though he did give so much of himself back to the sport (cough cough)...

MotoGP » Valentino Rossi: 'It will be a strange weekend'

People always go on about the two seconds slower on the same bike. The bike was completely foreign to him of course he was slower. And as for testing showing how things would be. The ducati barely changed all the others were bringing in completely new designs. I still maintain that following the trend Stoner's wins on the Ducati would have diminished further (to zero in 2012) as Honda and Yamaha made an even bigger leap over Duc than in the 800cc era since 2007, and his DNFs increased and resulting in similar WC EOY positions in 2011 and 12 like Rossi. I think Rossi probably dogged it a bit in 2012 especially but seeing things like Laguna this year, and Sic in 2011 probably left him thinking is this worth injuring myself over and I think most agree that Duc had the starts align in 2007 and will never see that again unless they get outside help.
