MotoGP » Rossi: Austin MotoGP test 'very important'

Actually Rossi is the most consistent as he holds the record for most consecutive race starts in MotoGp. Also people have short memories you have to understand he won 2008 and 9 (so back to back WC which none of the other aliens have been able to do) had a major injury in 2010 which wrote off his season and then went into the wilderness which is Ducati. We could argue about the Duc ad nauseum but a bike in WC contention it was not (and I think not in Stoner's hand either which is why I think he went to Honda).

MotoGP » Valentino Rossi 'pays a high price' for traction

Goat I won't waste my time pointing out the confluence of issues that came together to secure Stoner his Championship in 2007. A big part was Stoner but not solely. Equally we have seen his wins diminish considerably over those 4 years to the point where on balance it was likely that in 2012 he would not have won a race. As for Honda once again great rider but also great bike and explain to me why he did not repeat in 2012 and was outridden by his teammate on the same bike (if he is the greatest rider).

MotoGP » Water, electric complicate Rossi’s Sepang return

Damo46 even before Rossis injury, 99 was leading the standings in 2010. - 2010 Rossi came 1st in the first race dislocated shoulder before second came third and then second in the 3rd for a deficit of 9 pts to Lorenzo. Crashed broke leg in fourth, end of season. Lorenzo had his nemesis missing and Stoner was on the Duc which was going backwards. Voila WC. 2012 was in some way a repeat and he also was pretty lucky at that wet race to have it cancelled as he was at sea with that tyre choice. As we can see if all are fit we are for the first time in a long time looking at 4 possibly 5 way contest. So Johnson I will take that bet, Jorge won't do back to back, but if he does against this field (assuming they all stay fit) I will call him a better rider than Stoner.

MotoGP » Valentino Rossi: I hadn't forgotten how to ride

Stavros Mate isn't the fact that he got injured the point to win back to back wc you have to go uninjured for two seasons. Not crashing to some extent shows a level skill (and indeed luck but not solely) particularly over two seasons. Stoner crash in 2012 was an unforced error on his part and came on the back of a previous race crash while trying to beat his team mate. Also muppet you are likely to have been one of the people saying Rossi crashed in 2010 in practice due to pressure but stoner in 2012 was just an accident.

MotoGP » Dovizioso on Ducati: The bad point is now

People are still going with the if Stoner was on it. They say he handed over a winning bike, but as RabCati showed there were a number of issues which bumped him up the list in 2010. Equally in 2010 it was 3 wins and 5 DNFs. Rossi then came onto a bike cold versus a rider who had been on it for four years. Hardly a valid comparison. Stoner would have placed 5th instead of Rossi's 6th and maybe not event that as I think his win at all costs determination (a good quality) would have meant his luck of not getting seriously injured on the Duc would have run out. He knew he wouldn't win that is why he went to Honda.

MotoGP » Hayden: Door not closed on Ducati Austin test

Also can someone confirm, they did not change the engine at all even when going to a cradle frame. The reason I ask is the engine and casings were designed to be stressed members and thus extremely heavy comparative to an engine that is not. Given that they have not remotely redesigned the engine once the cradle frame came along woudl seem to: a)mean they have missed th opportunity to reduce the weight of the engine and may correct the bikes balance b)mean that developing the aluminimum cradle has been a waste of time if you don't redesign the engine away from a stressed member design.
