MotoGP » Island feat 'may be step too far' for Stoner

As has no doubt been stated elsewhere this is a rough and tumble series where people crash drive erratically and swap paint. And I can see it now as someone said he will have his teeth knocked out or at least get a clip and told to wake up to himself. I look forward to this with great interest. Equally, imagine Bathurst, 1000kms and Casey retiring hurt at lap 25.

MotoGP » Rossi concludes test, new frame for San Marino

There there baiting again. 10-6-4-3 (5DNFs in last season on Duc). Stoner gets off bike after 4 years experience and yes tests very well, Rossi gets on stone cold does not test well. Does not perform well in 2 seasons agreed. However, if you don't think that Honda made major steps (which it hadn't in 800cc while Stoner was on the Duc) in 2011 and is pretty much up there in 2012 (thanks to Pedro, whereas the proclaimed "can adapt to anything" Stoner has crashed twice this seasons and has injured himself and scurried back to Oz providing him with a very neat excuse for never having defended a title - despite being the best in the world), your kidding yourself. Add that in the mix and Vale podiuming infrequently is pretty close to the mean. I am not saying he would be doing better than Stoner on it but I think the differences would not be as massive as people seem to think.

MotoGP » Lorenzo: Dani and I tried everything to win

Awesome last lap. Well done Dani. Darryl Beattie highlighted that given that the Tech3s both ran out of petrol that maybe the drive up the hill to win on second last bend was a case of the Yam leaning out to complete race distance. I doubt it. Either way Dani stuck in there and that is now two head to head wins against Stoner and now Jorge. Hope he wins the WC and yes I agree I think maybe the shoe might be on the other foot as far as the No2 rider upstaging the leader in the Yamaha factory team. Sad not to see Stoner there complaining.

MotoGP » POLL: Valentino Rossi - Ducati or Yamaha?

People crap on about Stoner v Rossi on the Ducati, wins and DNFs and 1 champion and yes Rossi none, but 2007 was a freak event for Ducati and whether it be Stoner or Rossi the Ducati will not win a WC for some time. Audi may bankroll their revival but even that is not certain as Rossi has alluded to. It is the lack of front end certainty that affects Rossi more than Stoner (and Hayden) hence why he struggles the Yam will give that back to him. As stated on another thread if he is not competitive on a factory Yam next year I will admit it is probably time to move to the commentary box.

MotoGP » Valentino Rossi: 'Hard to concentrate' for poor positions

Shamu the Ducati was on the decline even under Stoner (10,6,4,3 and 5 DNFs in his last season) and consistently indicated that Ducati would not listen. It has been consistently indicated by Rossi that they are not listening to him or Hayden. Can you see the pattern appearing. The results are but a continuation of the situation where Ducati stand still and essentially go backwards as Yam and Honda move forward. Look at what Honda did to sort out their bike hmmm doesn't look very similar to Ducati's last effort (a single ECU that crapped itself and they didn't even have a replacement so testing over!). If he gets a Yamaha Factory ride and he is not competitive over the next season then I will agree that he is past it.
