MotoGP » Rossi: We've taken a decent step forward

Some knowledgeable people like Mat Oxley seem to be of the opinion that CS & JL have moved the goalposts and are definitely and consistently faster than VR's best. Drift not disparaging what you are saying and it has been a while but the only example on similar machinery has been 2008 and 9 and he won. 2010 was a right off but even then came back in record time and won. I noticed both Mat Oxley and Stavros are quick to write off Rossi now as too old too rich. But I just know in my bones that on competitive machinery Rossi would be burning to get 8 WC and 122 wins.

MotoGP » Rossi: Ezpeleta knows more than me!

Tommu, They all slide mate to different extents and slide to steer Rossi only made comments about this last week. But as Stoner is demonstrating he cannot unslide now to save the rear which shows a certain level of inflexibility in riding style (Hmm where have I heard that before). As for Rossi I hope he leaves, I know that Rossi wants two things before he retires 8 Prem Class WC to match Ago and to beat his 121 wins. Cementing his GOAT status. Ducati got a march in 2007 and will most likely never achieve that situation again and Stoner could not arrest that decline and neither can Rossi. Are we saying Cal would be better than Hayden on the duc, in the last few races Hayden has shown I think on purpose that the bike can run for a period and him at the front but it kills tyres and he goes backwards.

MotoGP » Front to back for Valentino Rossi at Silverstone

I agree Dacron et al. Rossi is driven by wanting to break all records so 8 premier class WC and 122 wins. He is currently contemplating the Ducati and as you say if the engine which is really the big question mark now (with the chassis having been altered completely) does not perform I think he may depart as he has tried everything else. He said Brno so I wait with baited breath. As for the situation with Stoner, I think he may well of known what was wrong and tried to convey it but did not have the clout to get it done. Having said that the bike went backwards and he never came close to winning the WC after 2007 and there are question marks to this day around tyres etc in 2007. People talk about Stoner getting off one day having romped and Rossi going nowehere the next day. Well comparing a guy that had 4 years exp and 2 on CF to one starting cold is obviously going to produce that kind of result.

MotoGP » Lorenzo 'listened to his heart', turned down Honda

Aussie once again you fabricate the only season Jorge beat Rossi and lets face won a WC was when all 3 other aliens were injured for extended periods. As for Jorge yes not all about money he knows Honda have issues (and have scant regard for their riders) and probably will continue to do so whereas Yam continually provide a good overall package with 2011 being an anomaly and no that is not purely Stoner as demonstrated this year.

MotoGP » Rossi 'one-season disadvantage’, Hayden excited

What I think this demonstrates is any of the four aliens when coupled with the best bike will win. Last year the Honda was a standout and pissed on everything as Rossi said best rider on the best bike. This year Jorge has the edge as the Honda has problems and despite the new GOAT title it proves that Stoner is not infallible, and cannot ride around problems as much as people say. I get the impression that his skill at coping with the Ducati problems is in some ways a hindrance on the Honda (i.e. killing tyres). As for Rossi on Ducati, as stated if you take the view that the others kept moving forward while Ducati stand still as is proven by the steady decline in wins under Stoner that Stoner in 2012 would probably do only marginally better than Rossi and if Rossi were on the Yam well I think we all know teh result.

MotoGP » Bullish Lorenzo aims to strengthen title grip

Come on CRT you can't have it both ways, either he tried really hard to promote the sport and despite this we bagged him or he did nothing to promote the sport was insular from the beginning and generally melifluous. Look at Jorge and Dani, neither are exactly the life of the party have been in top flight for a long time both labelled aliens and yet neither cops the flak that Stoner does, equally, Rossi I would suggest now that he down and people can lay the boot in has copped just as much flak and yet still garners strong support. Examine that and tell it is simply that Stoner is "misunderstood".

MotoGP » Bullish Lorenzo aims to strengthen title grip

From the lips of Shuei Nakamoto, Stoner wanted much less press and promotional activities, less testing. We gave him this and he was still not happy. CRT in order to promote riders they need to want to be promoted. Stoner has steadfastly refused to be part of the promotion of the sport (hell didn't even turn up to get his WC award). Love or hate Rossi but I don't think Dorna looked at Rossi as he entered 125 and said lets devote our promotion budget to Rossi, Rossi is charismatic and naturally extroverted and people responded to this and Dorna have reacted to this not the other way round.
