MotoGP » Casey Stoner rides RCV road bike

As the Principal of my school once noted "Respect is commanded, not demanded, as soon as start looking for it you are already lost". While Rossi is not perfect I would have to say overall, he whinges infinitely less than Stoner, when the chips are down he mainly blames himself (e.g. I wasn't fast enough today) and even when monumental mistakes were made he did not come in (and this is first hand accounts) chuck a massive nana and have a go at his crew. It is my long held belief that he burnt many bridges both with the Honda and Livio because of this behaviour. Equally not turning up in person to receive FIM Rider of the Year (hmm Ago, Hailwood, Rossi, Doohan etc) was just one example of his utter petulance.

MotoGP » Fast Rossi favours new chassis, wary of Honda

A bit of rain predicted for Assen on Saturday. As stated previously I think the big wild card this year is rain. Jorge is a scaredy cat in the rain and Rossi is brilliant a few wet races and things get very interesting. Equally, let face it quali and the racing is more volatile this year than just about any season I can think of so many more potentials to podium that prediction is difficult. Having said that if Rossi quals at 5 or above or certainly on the second row or above I think he will win, as he can pressure Marquez, Dani could be interesting and head to head over race distance with Vale up JLo rear tyre the money would be squarely on Rossi.

MotoGP » Rossi: I've got to make a step to challenge Lorenzo

DJfromTJ: ...He knows and experts know that is gonna take more than that, all I see everywhere is he needs to qualify better this and that, when in reality he caught up with Lorenzo in both LeMans and Catalunya and with almost half race left and still didn't do it, don't be mistaken Lorenzo can fight, what you think is gonna happen, that Rossi is gonna start in front, and ride into the sunset? Hope we can find out soon so people will STFU about it already.
Sorry DJ but for anyone who has raced it is clear that the tyres etc take a pounding coming through the pack compared to someone who is leading and simply has to maintain a time. If Rossi is behind Jorge after a couple of laps sorry my money is for Rossi to win and history supports this. Yes Jorge can fight but like Stoner it is not his best suit, whereas Rossi lives for the fight and rises to the occasion. If Marquez stops brain-fading and Rossi is close to Jorge after the first lap this could be an inte

MotoGP » Lorenzo one win from Stoner

The only thing I will say is that Capirossi who never looked close to winning a WC in the premier class before or after was equal leader in 2006 on the Duc before being taken out by at Catalunya scuppering his season. In the last race of that year Bayliss who went in as a wild card did a flag to flag having never raced the bike before. And you think come the following year it was all about Stoner. The fact is the performance advantage meant he did not have to pressure the ordinary handling as much, then once the rest were on equal footing the following year he went backwards. Also I still predict that come 2011 if Stoner had stayed at Ducati he would have not recorded a win as 2011 was the year that Honda pulled out the stops. Don't get me wrong great rider but as people have highlighted a great bike makes you look amazing a poor bike very ordinary as Marquez has demonstrated.

MotoGP » Valentino Rossi: It was not enough

I think we all agree he needs to extract the digit a bit in qualy. If he is top 5 it simply means he avoids the quagmire at the first turn. What was great about this race is that Rossi now knows that he can match and exceed Jorge's pace and so does Jorge. All he needs is to be closer after the first lap. As many have stated I think it is hard for Rossi not to be hounded by contemplation of retirement if he gets injured and he wants to stick around as per his comments about Biaggi's return to WSBK. Also don't discount Marquez while he had a major brain fade if he was smart he could have just followed Jorge around and then pounced in the dying laps as he surely had the pace. Also my prediction Cal will not have his contract renewed. On a factory backed honda and keeps lunching it, you only really get one chance (unless you are Rossi!).

MotoGP » Rossi: Lorenzo's form is bad news for me

The question that needs to be answered is why is Jorge able to both qualify very well and then be top notch in the race. I agree that Vale looks at race pace but sorry 11th in to the first turn leaves him simply with too much to do and as with Marc a few times last year and Jorge also if he can sit on their tails he will most likely win, but he thrashes his tyres to much in getting there from so far back that even if he arrives the tyres are so shagged he is left having to do damage control. What is the solution? I have no idea as only Vale and Galbo have that insight. I think also Vale is playing a bit safe into the first turn as it is getting increasingly chaotic and that gettoff where he hit the astro turf may influence things. Still 11 rounds to go but he has to be on Jorge by the end of the first lap or it is gonskis for Jorge.

MotoGP » Rossi: Your team-mate is the first enemy

To be fair on Jorge while he has two premier class WC 2010 saw three of the four aliens at that point all out with injury for extended periods. In 2012 there were also question marks, if Jorge wins this year provided Marquez returns to his best I will revise my view. As for Rossi yes he needs to win here or at least be competitive as second places here on out may not be sufficient. It would certainly put a full stop instead a question mark alongside "greatest of all time".
