MotoGP » Mick Doohan - Q&A

Those who criticise Rossi on the Duc fail to realise that the two Japanese marks continued to develop with Honda especially leapfrogging Yam in 2011 and that trend has remained. This is exactly the same issue that saw Casey go backwards on the Duc, they got a headstart in 2006 whereupon Capirossi was leading the championship before being taken out (and was never in the hunt before or since) and Bayliss as a wildcard wins the last race of 2006. Casey comes in and takes 2007 wow coudln't see that coming, then once the Japs caught up went steadily backwards. Jumps on the Honda with the seamless wins that season then can't back it up and gets shown how its done by his teammate Pedrosa in the second half of the season. Meanwhile Rossi is on a bike that is even further back beause of the Honda gamechanger. Would Casey have done better in 2011 on the Duc maybe but probably by very little.

MotoGP » Rossi talks wrong tyre choice - Lorenzo, Marquez risks

I can see the point of those saying we are eternal optimists when it comes to VR. But I will maintain that if they were both on the front row and Rossi got to run with MM from the start there would be a very very close race. Equally most pundits confirm that the Honda is a step above. Rossi needs to qualify much better and Yam have to close the performance/handling gap. But in terms of outright ability I think Rossi is the only rider presently that on an equal playing field (and even with the Yam performance gap) could run with and beat MM. Until we get a situation where they are both in positions 1-3 on the first bend it will be difficult to see if I am right. Also agree with poster who said he should have stayed out like Broc P. Would have got nailed for the first 3 laps but then would have possibly won.

MotoGP » LCR Honda confirms Cal Crutchlow

At the end of the day the Ducati is a dog which has declined steadily since its peak in 2006/7. Ducati have shown the same attitude they did with Vale who normally kept mum but slagged off Ducati for basically doing nothing to cure the bikes clear ills. So slagging Cal for falling off is probably unjust. Let's see if Duc make radical changes to the bike for 2015 and 2016. Good luck to Cal for swinging an amazing deal on a factory satellite Honda. I through he was gone for all money. But as many have said last chance a Honda Factory bike is the one to be on so if he can't better Bradl's efforts and be a serious podium contender then yep off to WSBK.

MotoGP » Yamaha working on seamless downshifts

1. People rave about Stoner in 2007 but as others have pointed out Capirossi was leading the WC the year before a massive crash put paid to his bid and Bayliss won as a wildcard in the last race that year. Stoner comes in and nails the WC in the first year at Duc and then not close every year after and people still think it was all Stoner great rider but it was the bike to be on. 2. There is only one rider in MotoGp that has competed on a bike without TC who's that? 3. Nakamoto would say that we have seen what happens when TC disappears on the Honda just look at Ped and also JLo. 4. You can see how strong MM is in breaking and you honestly think seamless downshifts which would have a marked effect on the stability of the bike coming in to a turn under brakes doesn't make a diff.

MotoGP » Rossi: Misano is my track, I love this place

He has to come to grips with Qualifying and he hasn't shown too much progress. As I have said ad nauseum if he is on the front row then I think he can run with the JLo and MM but he leaves himself with too much to do. Would he win under this scenario hard to say but I think he is not afraid to bang fenders ala JLo at the last round. I think MM is a bit like the West Indies in their cricket heyday confidence players if you can heap enough pressure on them they become vulnerable. The trick is to remain with MM long enough to heap pressure and with the slight deficite of the Yams that is even harder. And yes you can disagree about that last statement but you can see that MM can recover from mistakes and catchup but as seen at the last round even a small mistake by JLo and the gap is created and never closed and JLo proved that he can match lap to lap.

MotoGP » Rossi: I don’t regret joining Ducati

C'Mon, we all know that Duc stood still since 2006/7 the rest caught up got the same tyres and the results went backwards, in 2011 Honda took a huge step forward and Casey was Johnny on the spot again (like 2007) and won the WC. As someone else pointed out Vale's times weren't far off Casey's who had been on the bike for four years versus coming from basically the best handling bike on the grid so the transition must have been daunting even for Vale. He then set about trying to change the bike while also trying to win which is very bad recipe. I was also point out that Dovi despite the stickier tyres etc etc isn't doing that much better and is hardly a like for like comparison. Ducati got lucky in 2006/7 and I am sure Gigi and Dovi making for the exit when their contracts are up (Dovi may stay for the money). Maybe a move to Aprilia who actually can make a winning bike!

MotoGP » Victorious Valentino Rossi 'at the best of my career'

Yes as a fan some of these comments are a bit OTT but hey the haters get pretty ridiculous at times so it balances out. As for the win I feel Vale would have won irrespective and while we can never know for sure the quick comebacks by Vale must have had some influence on MM dropping the bike. As I have said numerous times, I feel Vale still has the capability to compete for a win against the other aliens but qualifies badly and so has the Duc between him and the front runners. If he can quali front row more wins are possible. Also I agree did you how Ross leapt passed MM one of the short straights what's with that. They need to sort the seamless downshift then we can say no advantage to either party and best man wins. I can't help feeling that with this obvious assistance to braking stability into corners negated MM won't look quite so super human.

MotoGP » Yamaha working on seamless downshifts

There are two things here in 2011 it was clear Honda made a major jump in bike development, this coincided with Stoner jumping ship. Conversely this coincided with Rossi jumping to Duc. While it is impossible to be sure if Stoner could be cloned and both went to Honda and stayed at Ducati the Ducati Stoner would not have won a race in 2011 just as Rossi did not. This is because Stoner is a very good rider and on the Honda that year was a very potent combination. However it was shown that when the chips were down even a little he was not that great evidenced by Pedro beating fair and square in direct head to head races in 2012 as shown by Sachsenring where he crashed trying to match him.

MotoGP » Moto3: Miller marks himself ‘five out of ten’

V4 et al, actually I am Australian and could not stand Stoner, spoilt brat as far as I was concerned and have always felt that while an amazing rider some of his prowess stems from being in the right place at the right time. As for Miller sorry different kettle of fish, no whingeing just yeah I stuffed few races and so I mark myself down. Plus while not a media darling certainly knows that simply refusing to deal with the media is going to win you no friends.
