Hard to tell how much it was about his continuos game raising or, on the contrary, how much his rivals have been embarrassed by him.I think, since one or two years ago, when the latters gave him a true run for the money, they seemed to be rather disengaged in 2012. That doesn't shrink at all his merits for this 9-th title ! As Mick Doohan said once : What I've been supposed to do: to slow down ?

For me, the podium should have been like this 1-2. Alonso & Vettel, with preference for Fernando as it was his best season, unlike Sebastian's. 3-4. Raikkonen & Hamilton, Kimi being the one prefered as a due reward for consistency.

While I am a Vettel fan, I have to applaud Fernando for winning this poll !I agree that it was his best season ever as was declared even by himself. A very gifted driver from whom, I think, there are more to come.

While I mostly agree, however we cann't really compare over 10 ten years experience with the same car to only the first year of adaptation.

WRC is a team's motorsport way more than some others, which, for instance, don't ever cease to pretend as being such of. One will never know what could have been the WRC history without that Daniel Elena's advice for his team mate Seb Loeb to keep competing ! Thus said, I think it depends on how much you are determined to retire or on the contrary. If you only need to hear an opposite opinion in order to make up your mind clear, you will probably be in Loeb's case. But if you already planned the action, there will be little chances that someone else might change your mind. I can only regret that in other case, such kind of advice never came (or if it did, it had no impact) to determine someone not to retire.
