MotoGP » San Marino MotoGP, Misano - Race Results

Valentino Rossi- ”.., after the start the top guys were very fast but my fastest lap was close to theirs. Unfortunately after some laps I was in trouble in braking and entering corners. I was struggling in hard braking and made some mistakes going wide and step-by-step they pulled away. I made a small mistake on turn seven and lost two seconds and by then already I had too much disadvantage. It's a pity because we wanted to try for the podium here in Italy in front of all the fans in Misano.”

MotoGP » 'Back to square one' for Ben Spies

Cycle News caught up with Spies and he explained what happened in his crash. According to the Texan, unlike on the Yamaha he rode last year, traction control on the Ducati doesn't become enabled until you shift into second gear. Spies was in first gear out of the pits and through the first few corners on his outlap when he was highsighsided in turn four - having not yet shifted into second gear. "On the Yamaha, unless you were in launch control, the TC is turned on," Spies explained. "On the Ducati the TC doesn't come on until you're in second gear. I guess I should have known that or someone should have told me."
