MotoGP » Stoner snatches Valencia victory from Spies

As a Stoner fan - you little ripper! As a Spies fan - we was robbed! LOL. Seriously, congrats to Ben for a great ride. Thanks to Dovi and Pedders as well, for keeping me on the edge of my seat for the first half. I really enjoyed that. In fact - great effort from everybody. Big thanks to Loris Cappirossi for 22 years of service, and having the hottest wife in the paddock for most of that time. Thanks to Westy for getting his elbows out and having a blinder. Great event all around.

MotoGP » Suzuki's 1000cc MotoGP bike an Inline Four?

continued ... not a Japanese problem, it's simply hubris and arrogance. BSA went though something like this in the '60s. The board of directors decided to run the race effort. They threw a much bigger budget at it and decided to build their bike out of titanium. All of it... It was a disaster of biblical proportions. If they'd simply increased the race dept's budget and stepped back and let them work, they would have been world beaters for a decade. Instead, they decided to take over things they had no experience or expertise in, and huge amounts of money and respect went down the toilet. It was a train wreck. It was a textbook example of why accountants and HR people should stay out of engineering, why boards should stay out of the face of the people at the coal-face. The fact that you have authority, doesn't mean you have expertise.

MotoGP » Suzuki's 1000cc MotoGP bike an Inline Four?

Suzuki may or may not come back. They may or may not be consistently successful. The key thing, is that upper management (not in the race dept, in the company) have a serious "Not invented here" complex. They're a very traditional, very Japanese company. They have to save face first and last. They can't copy anybody else or hire riders who claim credit off the company, or any other dumb thing that flies in the face of old school Japanese corporate culture. I'd love to see them come back, with a straight 4 and whop everyone, but I have grave doubts that's ever going to happen. They need to fund the race department appropriately, and consistently, and they need to get either a western manager, or a Japanese manager who thinks like a westerner, (pragmatic) in charge of the race dept, and then back off and let him do his job. While the very traditional and conservative board of directors decides to micro-manage the race dept, they will struggle. This is not a Japanese problem. It's simp

MotoGP » Lorenzo defeats Hondas in Qatar MotoGP opener

"Where are the Stoner fans?" We're here. Congrats to Lorenzo, superb riding, beautiful to watch. Nice effort from Danny. 3rd isn't quite what I was hoping for, but I also wanted something other than a predictable procession. Perhaps I should be careful what I wish for. LOL. 3 weeks is too long. I'm not even going to rub it into the Yellow Army. Sorry guys, I feel your pain. Better luck next time. Good work by Crutchlow too. Impressive.

MotoGP » Stoner: We didn’t show what we’re capable of

Amazing. Go to a soccer game and there are people who know all about it, and can remind you of stats, names, great bits of play from 25 years ago, but when they start to talk, the mug in the next row turns around "My Dad could bash your Dad to a pulp!" Know what's wrong with crash? Same thing. There are people here with a wealth of knowledge and experience and keen perception and insight, and then there are the hooligans.
