MotoGP » Lorenzo: Third MotoGP crown extra special

Rick180268: @adzman808 you could also say that Rossi only won what he won because of a lack of consistent contenders, and being on the best bike with the best tyres.
Yeah I was expecting someone to say that... Rossi still had to beat Biaggi/Sete/Roberts Jnr/Criville etc Rossi even left the 'good' bike for the 'rubbish' yamaha, which both Barros and Biaggi took up (and Sete already had) and couldn't beat him on You may argue that those riders simply weren't up to VR's calibre... but there's a BIG difference between the competition not being up to the job and the competition being in a hospital bed

MotoGP » Lorenzo: Third MotoGP crown extra special

Thing is though, Casey/MM/VR won their championships beating all and sundry JL won when Casey broke his foot/ankle & Dani had a bike problem, he also won the year VR broke his leg, and this year he won when VR was forced to start at the back Now he may very well have won all those title years without those problems befalling his rivals... it's perfectly believable.... ....but he didn't. So we still haven't seen a JL title victory with a full quota of evenly matched rivals. IMO of course, JL fanboys, YMMV.

MotoGP » Valentino Rossi appeals Sepang penalty

geoffrey.spears.52:
adzman808: People are forgetting one VERY important thing
RD knew his point total when they penalized him 3 points and were fully aware it would result in a last place start in Valencia. It's still far too lenient given the deliberate nature of the offence, but it was a purposeful penalty that would leave Rossi 7 points in the lead, but starting from last in the final round. It was the only way RD come appear strict without taking Rossi completely out of the championship race (which would have been bad for business).
True. But 3 pts is 3 pts. Suspend 3 pts pending appeal, he races from position in Valencia. He loses appeal, made to start at the back in Qatar2016 RD get their penalty enforced and don't lose face Rossi gets to race for the championship, and the sport isn't seen to be deciding the title off the track

MotoGP » Valentino Rossi appeals Sepang penalty

People are forgetting one VERY important thing Rossi's punishment is 3 points. That's it. It just so happens that 3 points combined with his existent point, mean he's got enough points to start at the back of the grid, which just so happens to be the final race and the championship decider. If Rossi's points from SIC are suspended, he can race from qual position @ Valencia, but if the points are later reinstated, then he will have to start from the back at the next available race This would NOT be Rossi escaping punishment. People assume that Rossi's punishment is designed to destroy his championship, but it's not and never was.

As far as I am aware, according the motogp website, the decision is currently suspended. Therefore, Rossi can qualify at Valencia as of this moment, And according to Gavin Emmett, CAS take months to work, and from what I have seen from this Arbitration process in the past, unsuccessful appeals can sometimes result in a harsher penalty. So Rossi could indeed win the championship at Valencia, but Lorenzo could be crowned 2015 champion in April if they decide Rossi is wrong and to take further action on Rossi.
David Emmett (@motomatters) says decision based on SUSPENDING the poin

MotoGP » Rossi accuses Marquez of helping Lorenzo

FWIW, I cannot believe that MM wants to help JL become the first (modern or of all time??) Spanish rider to win 3 premier titles, when that's a honour that MM can very easily achieve himself next year... All MM said before PI was that he promised he would not ride in a way that might scupper the chances of VR or JL, which personally I took to mean 'I promise to try hard not to knock either of them down' This IMO meant that he WAS PROBABLY riding a little 'calmer' than normal, but for the reasons MM said before PI, not what VR has said today. Now as many here have already said... ....I think VR has thought "Hmmmm no MM actually you're more useful to me when you're pushing as hard as you can, how can I get you to ride like this again" And the answer is, make the accusation that MM is helping JL so that MM feels obliged to demonstrate he isn't, by pushing 100% all the time... Rossi is very clever.

MotoGP » Marquez, Pedrosa agreement 'almost impossible'

it is complicated... and ultimately it was the design of the TC sensor/cable that caused the problem, the catalyst was being touched by MM it's also complicated re MM, he hasn't done much wrong and imo has certainly been 'calmer' than he was in moto2.... but here we reach a point... MM has made a few moves & close calls that COULD of turned very nasty, but haven't... so does race direction wait until (if) something does happen or act on the perceived likelihood of something happening? and finally - to all those bringing up again & again 06 & knocking Hayden off.... get over it - hayden still went on to win the title, Dani made up for it in Valencia by letting him through to 3rd, if you really, really resent dani that much then just take solace from the fact that DP has more race wins in virtually every year he's been in motogp (without the title) than NH has in his whole career (which should tell you how fortuitous hayden's championship actually was)
