F1 » Ecclestone: BBC stopped deal with Channel 4 or ITV

Simple fact is the BBC do not like motorsport. They have created a first class programme with the F1 coverage but the top brass still do not like it. It's not green enough. It's not highbrow enough. It's not BBC. The best solution for them is firstly to save a bundle of money, then make sure there is no terrestrial competition, and yet retain the viewing figures via highlights. Lets hope a 10 million viewer backlash comes back to haunt them in some form or other.

F1 » Walker laments 'free to air' loss

Now would be a good time for Honda, BMW, Toyota, Jaguar to start a rival series. Charge racetracks a sum where they can make money instead of losing money. Get Channel 4 and Eurosport on board. Hire as many of the current BBC team as possible. Has some possibilities while F1 is going through some turbulence.

F1 » Walker laments 'free to air' loss

I think Murray is right to point out the dangers of a reduced number of viewers. If F1 thinks it is bigger than its' fan base then it could be in for a surprise. A big reduction in European viewers will be damaging. Perhaps Mercedes and Renault feel that India and China is where the future lies. I can only say ignore your domestic markets at your peril.
