F1 » Ecclestone dismisses Austin 'offer'

I don't really understand why it's such a crime for Bernie Ecclestone to maximise F1's profit. It's a private business not a charity and if circuits weren't able to make their own profit the sport wouldn't exist. He challenges the businesses who contract with him to be clever enough to make money for him and themselves and this keeps everybody on the ball. The only glitch is the involvement of people who don't need to make a profit, like the oil states. That gives us two rather duff races in glittering "facilities". But it's not the business of a business to discriminate. Profit and investment are its ethics and its lifeblood.
