WRC » Ford to stay in WRC, confirms drivers

PS to Ford is positive but don't forget he wasn't the driver he once was in the latter years @ SWRT. He was outgunned by Atkinson and I expect a similar scenario at Ford in 2012. But, if he's content to support JM-L then it will help his development. Just remember how MH benefitted with Gronholm to act as mentor. But,,, my preference would have been Petter + Henning in semi- works cars and give the 2nd Ford seat to a younger driver? Tanak maybe or Ostberg?

WRC » Loeb wins Rally Mexico, Citroen dominate

I'm seriously concerned @ Ford's performance in Mexico - clearly they're now 2nd best to Citroen & with 2010 having more tarmac rounds than 2009, the championship will favour Loeb anyway. If they (Ford) don't turn it around v.quick, the drivers championship will be wrapped up in favour of Seb even earlier! Finally, on the subject of Petter - what is the "relationship" with Citroen anyway? I know he's running his own customer car but surely Citroen would have also tried to introduce team orders had Petter held the lead to the end of day 3. In fact, I wonder whether his decision to not play the tactical card at the end of day 1 was a Citroen team strategy?

WRC » Todt: WRC amongst my top priorities

I agree with all the comments about cars/technology. What also needs to be reviewed is the format of events. i)Cloverleaf structures with duplicated stage usage is dull, made worse by using the same (core) stages each year. Rally GB is always Epynt/Crychan/Halfway on the Saturday (or a slight variation thereon) ii)Central servicing makes the route too restrictive & remote servicing is not a proper solution iii)Super-rally is confusing. If you're out, then you're out iv)3-day formats are too short, need to be 4 or 5 days with decent stage mileage. I hope JT can start to put the character back into the WRC, using events which are a proper adventure (Safari etc.)...

WRC » IRC: Hirvonen targets Monte success

Both Fiestas allowed to start but unsure on what basis - no official statement from M-Sport yet but some 'issue' seems to have come up. Meanwhile, times for 'Prologue' which I guess is shakedown? Gardemeister Voulloz +1.2 Kopecky +3.3 Meeke +7.5 Hirvonen + 12.6 Hanninen +14.8 Wittmann +15.1 Wilks +18.9 =Bouffier +18.9 Sarrazin +20.7 Ogier +22.0

WRC » OFFICIAL: Solberg confirms plans for 2010

Chris - interesting prediction. Can't see SO or J-ML finishing ahead of MH myself - MH is Mr Consistency & generally only fails to finish if the car lets him down. J-ML needs a year of consolidation especially after 2009 & SO is still a bit reckless. DS is a good bet for runner-up though, especially with more tar in 2010. Good news that PS has got something together again & I really hope he can finish in the top-spot at least once this year. I agree he'll be scaring the works teams - I just hope "politics/team orders" doesn't come into it if he ends up battling with SL or DS at some point. I recognise he's bought the car(s) & running his own team but nevertheless...

WRC » IRC: M-Sport/Ford to compete in 2010

The key factor here is that the five manufacturers with pukka S2000 machinery are all in with a shout of winning rallies. If Skoda, Proton etc. entered the WRC they face a mountain to climb to take the game to Ford/Citroen, hence they prefer the IRC. The only factor missing from the IRC is the presence of absolute top-notch drivers (the top four or five who can really drive quick) but below that, the IRC is every bit as good if not better than the WRC. Indeed, even the TV coverage is miles ahead & to the average guy in the street the IRC will, if it gets the marketing properly sorted, be the premier series. I think the WRC need to wake up (& quickly).

WRC » Monster World Rally Team confirms WRC entry

Seems Ken is being realistic in using 2010 as a year to gain WRC awareness. Only at the end of the yr can anyone start to comment/judge whether he's good enough to make the grade. That aside, having more decent entries into the WRC & helping to raise the profile across the pond can only be a positive factor to the championship. Hopefully it'll help to encourage another manufacturer (or two) to come & join the fun!
