F1 » Button: Perez 'deserves' second year with McLaren

Perez actually should be the #1 at McLaren, McLaren are just making sure they keep the Brit in front while they deal with a car they built around Button allegedly. This year went down the plumbing, Perez imo is a better driver than Button, but like Hamilton he wont just sit around all race and hope other people get taken out or hustle and maybe their tires go off. Perez has done enough to secure his seat next year at McLaren, the real question is, who are they going to build their car around next year?

you really can't compare Melandri to Marquez, has Melandri ever literally run some one over? does Melandri consistently throw his bike in to other people's racing lines? He does push people wide, but thats about as bad as it gets, and to be fair, pushing someone wide on a block pass with out touching isn't the worst thing to do, provided you do not gain too much of an advantage by causing the other person to have to take avoiding action. Marco is a scrappy pilot, but hes no where near as dangerous, nor will he or was he ever as bad as a guy like Marquez, who literally has a free pass to run over/collide with other riders, push people off track routinely, etc... Even Simoncelli wasn't as bad as Marquez, and Simoncelli made some pretty bad moves (knocking down Barbera on the straight, and running Max off at Monza which nearly caused a collision with Spies which could have ended really bad)

Bridgestone were trying to curtail Red Bull's performance with the passed up tires, the better the tires get, the more the divide will grow unfortunately, many people just cannot comprehend how much faster that car is than any other out there. Ferrari have another chance mixing up the formula next year, but I really doubt they will be able to adapt or optimize as well as RedBull and it will again turn in to complete domination as Red Bull own the market in terms of engineering. All the sport needs is a well moderated weight penalty system to spice up the show, the unsafe tires and constant rule changes are a bit of a joke,

Also I can guarantee you that if Marquez had started out on a CRT he would either be dead now or have been in hospital himself (or someone else) at least twice due to massive injury. The only way Marquez is not crashing in to other people or himself this year is that he has a disadvantaged teammate and the fastest bike + tires that make him at least 1/2 second faster per lap at almost every race. Everyone likes comparing riders yet no rider gets the same level of support as any other, so please just stop pretending to have a clue if you do not take in to account massive differences in money and man power that goes behind the performances of each rider on the grid.

his fast starts suggest he is fast enough, he just hasnt found a good sweet spot for getting the most out of the slowest of the competitive bikes. His race pace is average and where it should be considering Honda have a much better package. Smith is where he should be expected to finish, and hes been getting much better with respect to where his teammate has finished, and to be frank, where people finish in GPs has a lot more to do with the support they get than how fast they are. I would have to say his starts of recent have been very impressive, he just doesnt have the same performance on warm tires as do the other riders, and hes gonna have to find that grip. Lets ban traction control and see who still has the grip :) ...

I wonder who does the risk assessments for Dorna. I think the only concern is someone's bank account. The presentation is outrageous, even the commentary seems scripted, like talking points you hear on the boob tube news. Meh, if the control tire is broken, and the ridiculous fuel restrictions are lifted and TC is banned, competition will increase and so will 'real interest' until then its just a bunch of politics pushing for hero worship. And I think some of the commentators who preach to the masses are real ridiculous at times, insulting to say the least. I do think Jorge can destroy Marc Marquez though, its going to have to require Yamaha breaking the control tire to do it, because as it stands right now, Bridgestone are highly dubious when it comes to tires, tires lasting and not lasting and whose bike they seem to fit (riding styles especially) and whose bikes they make unsafe riding conditions for (Jorge+Dani).

so much rubbish from the haters, Merc are miles ahead of where they were last year, 3 wins, lots of pole positions and some good podiums, the only problem I could see with Brawn is his lack of interest in the sport, or a lack of interest from Mercedes itself. Maybe the writing is on the wall, and Mercedes are not interested in competing with Renault in terms of what the motor can and cannot do :)
